  17.      Nitroglycerin [heretofore
  18. Nitro] is a very powerful high-
  19. explosive.  I am not sure who
  20. invented it but he probably didn't--
  21. the first person to make it
  22. probably blew himself up and his
  23. freind got the info off his notes.
  24. Well anyway, the next best thing to
  25. Nitro is TNT which is ten times
  26. harder to make but also ten times
  27. safer to make.  If you can't use
  28. nse then dont even TRY
  29. to make this stuff--a few drops can
  30. bbcircumstances.

  34.      To make Nitro:

  37.      Mix 100 parts fuming nitric acid
  38. (for best results it should have a
  39. specific gravity of 50 degrees Baume')
  40. with 200 parts sulphuric acid.  This
  41. is going to be HOT at first--it won't
  42. splatter if you pour the nitric INTO
  43. the sulphuric but don't try it the
  44. other way around.  The acid solutions
  45. together can disolve flesh in a matter
  46. of seconds so take the proper measures
  47. for God's sake!!!  When cool, add 38
  48. parts glycerine as slowly as possible.
  49. Let it trickle down the sides of the
  50. container into the acids or it won't
  51. mix thourily and the reaction could
  52. go to fast--which causes enough heat
  53. to ignite the stuff.  Stir with a
  54. **GLASS** rod for 15 seconds or so
  55. then CARFULLY pour it into 20 times
  56. it's *VOLUME* of water.  It will
  57. visibly precipitate immediatly. there
  58. will be twice as much Nitro as you
  59. used glycerin and it is easy to
  60. separate.  Mix it with baking soda
  61. as soon as you have separated it--
  62. this helps it not to go off
  63. spontainously.

  66.   NOTES:  Parts are by weight and the
  67. Baume' scale of spicific gravity can
  68. be found in most chem. books.  You
  69. can get fuming nitric and sulfuric
  70. acids wherever good chemicals or
  71. fertilizers are sold.  It is
  72. positivly *STUPID* to make more
  73. than 200 grams of Nitro at a time.
  74. When mixing the stuff wear goggles,
  75. gloves, etc.  When I first made
  76. the stuff I had the honor of having
  77. it go off by itself (I added too
  78. much glycerine at a time.)  I was
  79. across the room at the time, but
  80. I felt the impact--so did the table
  81. it was on as well as the window it
  82. was next to--they were both smashed
  83. by only 25 grams in an open bowl.
  84. Oh, yes, glycerine you can get at
  85. any pharmacy and you need an adult
  86. signature for the acids.  Any bump
  87. can make Nitro go off if you don't
  88. add the bicarbonate of (baking)
  89. soda--but even with that, if it
  90. gets old I wouldn't play catch with
  91. it.

  95.      Once you have made the Nitro and
  96. saturated it with Bicarb. you can make
  97. a really powerful explosive that won't
  98. go off by itself by simply mixing it
  99. with as much cotton as you can and
  100. then saturating that with molten
  101. ((parifine--just enough to make it
  102. sealed and hard.  Typically, use the
  103. same amounts (by weight) of each
  104. Nitro, cotton and parifine.  This,
  105. when wrapped in newspaper, was once
  106. known as "Norbin & Ohlsson's Patent
  107. Dynamite," but that was back in 1896.
