  17. Introduction to PSPNUM:

  20. The PSPNUM custom control (available as 16-bit VBX and 32-bit
  21. OCX) is a special type of Edit Box control. You use it only
  22. for decimal numbers or decimal numeric arrays. You specify
  23. through edit masks how you want numeric values to display in
  24. the edit box e.g. "123.45-" or "US$123.45CR".

  26. PSPNUM stores and manipulates numeric field/array values more
  27. accurately than 1) floating-point data and 2) native 'currency'
  28. data types. It also supports a range of common mathematical
  29. and array operations. Many satisfied users.

  31. About ZIP files for PSPNUM:

  34. 1) PSPNMV.ZIP: 104K bytes. PSPNUM 16-bit VBX version 2.7. Also
  35. full working VB3 demo. VBX usable with Microsoft Visual Basic
  36. V1.0 or later or with compatible environments. UNZIPs with -d
  37. flag to about 300K.

  39. 2) PSPNMO.ZIP: 92K bytes. PSPNUM 32-bit OCX version 2.7. Also
  40. full working VB4 demo. OCX usable with Microsoft Visual Basic
  41. V4.0 32-bit or later or with other OLE-compatible environments.
  42. UNZIPs with -d flag to about 350K.

  44. 3) PSPNUM.ZIP: 123K bytes. Documentation common to both VBX
  45. and OCX. UNZIPS to about 400K to give the following:

  47. 3A) PSPNUMUG.DOC: Full 50-page PSPNUM User Guide. Prepared
  48. using Microsoft Word version 6.0. In particular, see section
  49. 1 and Appendix B for an explanation of why PSPNUM is so much
  50. better than the 'currency' data types or floating-point
  51. fields.

  53. 3B) PSPNUM.HLP: On-line Help file for the VBX/OCX.
  54. Substantially the same content as the User Guide. You may
  55. need to move/copy this HLP file to common directory for
  56. general testing/use.

  58. 3C) HISTORY.TXT: A brief description of previous releases
  59. and proposed developments for PSPNUM.

  61. 3D) LICENSE.DOC: PSPNUM License agreement. Includes prices.
  62. Also prepared using Microsoft Word version 6.0.

  67. PSPNUM is NOT freeware/shareware.

  69. The VBX and OCX in the above ZIP files have ALL the functions
  70. of the production version, but only allow a limited number
  71. (20) of instances of the PSPNUM control to be in use at any
  72. point in time.

  74. This should provide enough for a very full demonstration and
  75. evaluation of the PSPNUM VBX/OCX. You may well find the demo
  76. version useful without acquiring the full production version.
  77. However we strongly believe that it is not in your best
  78. interests to use unsupported software. If you acquire the
  79. full production version of PSPNUM according to the terms of
  80. our license agreement, we can support you, help you, and
  81. upgrade your software if needs be. Whereas as an unlicensed
  82. user, you really are on your own.

  84. If you like PSPNUM, open LICENSE.DOC in Word. Examine the
  85. license conditions. If the conditions are acceptable to you,
  86. contact us first. We can then discuss license pricing in
  87. further detail. For some users, we are prepared to negotiate
  88. very reasonable rates. Whatever rates are agreed, you will
  89. only get the production version of PSPNUM after we receive
  90. the signed license agreement. So it makes sense for you to
  91. look at the license first.

  94. can quite easily fax you copies or prepare documents in
  95. another format.
