- The Apothecary v0.1ß-v1.6 (c) Copyright 1996 Bryan Stanbridge
- Programmed By: Bryan Stanbridge
- using DDPlus v7.1 Communications Routines
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- -=- Introduction -=-
- The Apothecary was thought up after I had started work on Grizelda's House
- another LORD IGM I have worked on. I decided to create what I had thought
- (and still do think, though if I'm wrong someone correct me) would be the
- only companion IGM's, that is, the only IGM's able to share items between
- the two. So I thought for a bit to see what companion I could create to
- go with Grizelda's House and The Apothecary was born!
-
- -=- Disclaimer -=-
- This program was tested on a Pentium/63 but in no way does that garauntee
- that it will work on your computer. I can only garauntee that it will take
- up hard drive space.:)
-
- -=- Release Note -=-
- I fixed the ErrorLevel 100 on entering Apoth the first time a day(I hope...;)
- It was a simple little error that was fixed in two seconds. It wasn't critical
- however now it's not quite as annoying..;) The data files are located in
- different places now. Only one file is in the LORD directory(and in v1.7
- it should be gone from the LORD directory). Please note the section on
- upgrading, as there are some special things that must be done.
-
- -=- FileList -=-
- The Apothecary currently comes with these files.
- FILE_ID.DIZ <-- Description of The Apothecary.
- APOTH.EXE <-- The actual executable necessary to run The Apothecary
- APOTH.DOC <-- This file.
-
- The Apothecary creates the following files once it has been run.
- [in the Apothecary directory]
- APOTH.DAT <-- Data file to keep track of path to LORD and Griz's House.
- ATIME.DAT <-- Data file to keep track of user entrances, etc.
- [in the LORD directory]
- ITEMS.DAT <-- Data file that stores the items shareable between Griz
- and Apoth...
-
- -=- Operation -=-
- To install/setup merely type APOTH CONFIG.
- Follow the prompts.
- You're done.
-
- -=- Upgrading -=-
- To upgrade from v1.0 and previous, you're pretty much screwed. Sorry, but the
- data formats are so incompatible that your best bet would be to reinstall new.
- To upgrade from v1.1c+ run UPGRADE.BAT, it'll handle the rest.
-
- -=- Registration -=-
- Registration is simple! THERE IS NONE! This product is *FREEWARE*
- Use it to your hearts content. If you do wish to donate to me for some odd
- reason..;) do so at the below address. Really though, I had FUN programming
- this so no registration is necessary. If you must pay for it, then just
- donate the 5 or some odd dollars to your favorite charity.
-
- -=- Attention! -=-
- I would like to address a statement that Joseph Masters said that was,
- unbeknownst to him, false. There ARE hidden features in Grizelda's House
- and The Apothecary, you just have to find them. Also, he made the comment
- back in v1.1c and a lot has changed since then.
-
- -=- Thanks! -=-
- My special thanks go out to these people:
-
- The People at Borland -- for the excellent product, TurboPascal.
- Bob Dalton \
- Steve Lorenz |-- The original DDPlus Team!
- Scott M. Baker /
- Seth A. Robinson -- For MANY reasons..;) 1) for creating LORD
- 2) for actually listening to an annoying programmer
- trying to create an IGM for LORD>:)
- 3) for pointing out that node 0 didn't work... odd,
- but it's fixed now.
- 4) For bothering to try Grizelda's House and
- The Apothecary at all! :)
- Joseph Masters -- for releasing the structs to Aragorn's Timer which
- FINALLY taught me to use records correctly.
