  5. Release 5.2 (25-Sep-96):

  8. - Added option to deliver files to Bud Jay's BestZips Internet/CD-ROM service.
  9.   (See README.JCS for critical information regarding the use of this option)

  11. - Revised fee schedule for ASP/ESC Internet FTP services under new service
  12.   provider. Rather than fees based on file sizes, the FTP options now use a
  13.   simple "flat rate" fee.

  15. - Added option to give Keith Peterson (Simtel.Net) permission to mirror files
  16.   that are placed on our AD/Internet FTP site.

  18. - Added 'DiscoverCard' credit card to the available payment options.

  21. Release 5.1 (04-Aug-96):

  24. - It came to our attention that our Author-Direct based Internet service 
  25.   options were being confused with the ASP-provided Internet services. 
  26.   This release attempts to clarify this.

  28. - Added the text files DO-DONT.TXT and VENDINFO.TIP to the distribution
  29.   fileset.

  32. Release 5.0 (19-Jul-96):

  35. - This is the initial release of our ADDS package, which represents a merge
  36.   of the previously separate 'Author-Direct' service (for ASP members) and
  37.   the 'ESC FDN' service (for ESC members) into a single service. Both of 
  38.   those services are now accommodated by this single package.

  40. - Due to the increasing complexity of this service, we have raised the price
  41.   of our 'basic' service fee to $25 (with $5 discount for VENDINFO.DIZ file)
  42.  
  43. - Since we have been able to further automate our routines for our optional 
  44.   America Online upload service, we are able to *lower* the costs for that 
  45.   service from $5 to $2.50.
  46.  
  47. - With the announcement of the new ASP forum on America Online, we now offer 
  48.   an uploading option for that new area. 
  49.  
  50. - For ESC members, we now offer an uploading option for the Educational
  51.   Forum libraries on CompuServe
  52.  
  53. - For ESC members, we now also offer a delivery option for the ESC CD-ROM!
  54.  
  55. - We are taking this opportunity to announce that effective 01-Sep-96, we
  56.   will *require* that all submissions include a valid VENDINFO.DIZ file.
  57.   The overwhelming majority of our submitting authors already do so, so 
  58.   this should not cause a major problem for anyone.

  60. - We can now accept file submissions via the Internet (this is only available
  61.   to those who have established a 'Blanket ID' account with us!). For details
  62.   see the BLNKETxx.TXT file included in this package.

  64. Also, please be advised that we are now being much more strict in our 
  65. requirements as they pertain to what we consider to be industry 'standards'. 
  66. Since our reputation as a distributor is directly related to the products that 
  67. we distribute, we want those products to conform to said standards as much as 
  68. possible.

  70. For example, we previously requested that the 'BBS' filename include the 
  71. version number of that particular release -- now, we *require* that the BBS 
  72. filename include the version number.

  75. Release 4.2 (06-Feb-96):
  76. ------------------------
  77. - Added new distribution option - uploading to America Online! This
  78.   long awaited feature is finally feasible, as we now have the ability
  79.   to somewhat automate the uploading process to AOL (VENDINFO.DIZ file
  80.   is required for this option).

  82. - Replaced the $5 blanket surcharge for PCNet/Zenith/ZDNet uploading
  83.   with a flat $2.50 surcharge for each service.

  85. - Removed the "Multi-Part Fileset" feature. Very few authors still
  86.   distribute their products as true multi-part filesets (i.e. Part 
  87.   1of2, Part 2of2), and those authors who *did* attempt to use this 
  88.   feature normally did so incorrectly due to not understanding the 
  89.   concept that it was originally designed to accomodate.

  91. - Trimmed much of the redundant information from the submission form.
  92.  
  93. - We were reluctantly forced to increase the rates for the ASP CD-ROM 
  94.   and ASP MSN services, due to the actual transfer costs being higher 
  95.   than we had originally anticipated. Should this situation improve in 
  96.   the future, we will then reduce these rates accordingly.

  98. - We have removed all of the "(*)" indicators from the submission form.
  99.   These previously indicated information fields which could be left blank 
  100.   if a VENDINFO.DIZ file was included (the assumption was that these data
  101.   fields could be extracted from the VENDINFO.DIZ file). This does not 
  102.   represent any deficiency in the VENDINFO system itself, but rather in 
  103.   the authors not creating their VENDINFO.DIZ files completely or correctly. 
  104.   Many authors were submitting invalid VENDINFO.DIZ files, or VENDINFO.DIZ 
  105.   files which didn't include all of the necessary information, or which 
  106.   contained invalid or incorrect information. As such, we have been forced 
  107.   to revert back to our original concept and now require that all fields 
  108.   on the submission form be completed.

  138. - The Planet Connect satellite distribution service is no longer an "optional" 
  139.   service, and is included in the "basic" service.

  141. - The Author-Direct File Distribution Network (FDN) is now a member of the 
  142.   FidoNet Filebone system. As such, the distributed files have the potential 
  143.   of reaching the same distribution points as other FDN services (i.e. SDN). 
  144.   In order to minimize file "duplication" between networks, we recommend that
  145.   you avoid submitting your products to other services which are also members 
  146.   of the FidoNet Filebone system.
