- When a new file echo (for an ESTABLISHED group) is automatically added, the
- info placed in your ALLFIX log should look something like this:
-
- ---------- Thu 19 Sep 96, ALLFIX v4.40 build 21 14-Sep-96 10:24 # 12:26:55
- Command : File Announce ! 12:26:57 Msg Unknown fileecho: BBS_TST !
- 12:26:57 Msg Auto-adding : BBS_TST # 12:26:57 Msg Using Comment : BBS File
- Distribution Net # 12:26:57 Msg Using Group : 20 defaults # 12:26:57 Msg
- Destdir : D:\BBS_TST\ # 12:26:57 Msg Sending announcement to : 1:352/266 ?
- 12:26:58 Msg New area added to BBS
-
-
- You should also receive a netmail (generated by ALLFIX) that looks
- something like this:
-
- The following file echo has been automatically added:
-
- Name BBS_TST Comment BBS File Distribution Net Dest D:\BBS_TST\ Group
- BBSFDN Systems: 1:352/266 1:352/600 16:652/666 ---
-
- The systems listed in this case would be which ever address(es) you've told
- ALLFIX to recognize as YOURS for that particular file echo (or group), as
- well as the address that your feed uses to send files to you.
-
- But, before we can get to where some (or all) of your groups can accept
- automatically added file echos, we need to setup the group(s) that will
- accept AutoAdded areas, as-well-as define which systems will be allowed to
- AutoAdd new file echos.
-
- Let's take the latter of the 2, and define who will be able to AutoAdd to
- your system. Under the Node Manager (advanced settings), select the
- appropriate sysop, and system address of your file feed, and toggle the
- "Allow AutoAdd" switch to YES. This way, whenever a new file echo is
- introduced within the entire net, or you've just received a newly requested
- file echo, ALLFIX will allow your feed to send it through without delay.
- While we're in the Node Manager, you might want to toggle the "Allow Remote
- Maintenance" switch to YES as well. The setting of "Allow Remote
- Maintenance" switch is entirely up to you.
-
- Now that you've setup the appropriate systems, let's turn our attention to
- the Group Manager area of the FILEECHO section. The areas that we're
- most interested in are the MASK, AutoAdd, and Unique fields of the Group
- Manager. In the MASK field, ONE GROUP must (yes, MUST) have the first mask
- set as "*" (minus the quotes of course). Using our first example above, if
- we have a group where every file echo begins with BBS_, and it's the first
- group to be setup to allow AutoAdd, then the VERY FIRST thing we put in the
- MASK field is "*". After that, you can add any additional masks you feel
- are appropriate to that group. Once the first group is properly setup,
- then any other group you decide to setup for AutoAdd will only require any
- appropriate masks that are needed for that group. Next, simply toggle the
- AutoAdd field to YES to allow Automatic Additions to that group. Finally,
- you might want to toggle the Unique field to YES, but only if the group
- encompasses a number of different file types (utils, texts, and dbase files
- all in the same group).

- Please refer to the file GRPFILE.TXT contained in this archive for further
- examples.
