- Seven v1.01
-
- A word of caution with loading ANY new game. Before putting it online for
- your users to play, make sure you watch a user successfully play the game.
- Sometimes a game will work just fine locally, but fail over the modem,
- including this one, if it is not set up correctly.
-
- NOTICE: Over 50% of the BBS's this game was tested on required the use
- of BNU or other FOSSIL driver. If your having any problems running this
- game remotely, the first thing to try is loading BNU (HIGHLY RECOMENDED).
-
- Seven may be played locally without the need for BBS software by executing
- the program with the argument LOCAL. eg C:\>SEVEN LOCAL
- Be sure to remove any BBS dropfiles from that dir.
-
- You must execute SEVEN.EXE from its own directory, by changing to it.
-
- Seven will look for a dropfile in its own directory, if you do not pass as
- the first argument, where to find the drop file to use. Examples:
-
- SEVEN.EXE \BBS\CHAIN.TXT ;looks in the \BBS dir for CHAIN.TXT
- SEVEN.EXE ;looks in the \SEVEN dir for first
- ;dropfile it can find
- SEVEN.EXE CHAIN.TXT ;looks in the \SEVEN dir for CHAIN.TXT
-
-
- ********************* Installation steps ***********************
-
- 1. Make a new dir for Seven and unzip all files in that dir.
- 2. Edit SEVEN.BAT to fit your needs, and move it to your BBS dir.
- 3. Edit SEVEN.CFG to fit your needs.
- 4. Update your door to run the game.
- 5. If you want to inform your users that it is their turn in the
- game when they logon, read 7TURN.DOC.
-
- For WWIV BBS's
-
- Run Chain Edit and insert a new chain. The Chain information should
- be as shown below:
-
- A. Description : Seven
- B. Filename : SEVEN.BAT <---Use the batch file, not the EXE.
- C. SL : 0
- D. AR : None
- E. ANSI : Required
- F. Dos Interrupt: Not Used <---Must NOT be used
- G. 300 Baud : NOT Allowed
- H. Shrink : Yes <---Recommended
- I. Disable pause: Yes <---Recommended
- J. Local only : No
- K. Multi User : No <---Recommended
-
-
- The game has its own FOSSIL driver, but will use the one you have
- loaded first before using its own. It is possible that you may need to
- load one for the game, I suggest BNU if your having problems.
- (Over 50% of BBS's tested required a FOSSIL)
-
- Seven creates several files. You may want to know what they are. On first
- run, Seven creates a subdirectory called DATA. In that directory there may
- or may not be the following files:
-
- GAMES.DAT a 25 byte file, indicating what games are created.
- GAMEx.DAT x=game number. Holds players name, tile, date last played, etc.
- GAMEx.HIS History of plays for game x.
- GAMEx.MAL Mail to be sent to players of game x.
- TOPTEN.DAT Name and score of anybody who either wins or loses a game.
- LASTWIN.DAT Name and score of the last winner of any game.
-
- Seven was written to require no maintenance by the SysOp. Just install
- it, and let it do the work of creating and deleting files.
- If you want to delete a game in progress, or completed before its
- scheduled deletion date, just delete GAMEx.* where x is the game number
- you want removed. (be sure not to delete GAMES.DAT, Unless you want to
- delete all games in use)
-
- All games not played, or completed games, will be automatically deleted in
- the days set by DELETEDAYS in the SEVEN.CFG file.
-
- A special Thank You to those people involved in the betatesting of this
- game. Without your help, this game would not have been possible.
- (I apologize if I missed anyone here)
