  3. -- A work-a-around to allow a Laser Writer Select 310 to be used with OS 8.5/8.6 . Shareware $17.00 by Dave Johnson(djohnson@kagi.com)

  5. Quick Start:

  7. 1) You need "Serial Tool" (English version) you can get it at:
  8.  http://asu.info.apple.com/swupdates.nsf/artnum/n10972

  10. 2) Make sure AppleTalk is off or using a port other then the one the LaserWriter 310 is connected to.

  12. 3) Double Click "install LW310" 
  13. What the installer does:
  14.  
  15. •) Checks    your system folder for "Serial Tool". 
  16. •) The new version of "LW310 download" will be copied to your "System:Scripts" folder. 
  17. •) A modified copy of "Desktop Printer Utility" (from ..:Apple Extras:Printing:Apple LaserWriter Software) will be created and saved in the same folder as the installer.

  19. 4) Run the program  "DPU for LW310"  (now in the same folder as the installer.) to 
  20. create a new Desktop Printer. 
  21.  
  22.         a) Select "DTP for LaserWriter 310", click "OK" in the window.
  23.         b) In the next window click "Create..."
  24.         b) Give the new Desktop Printer a name.
  25.         c) Select the new Desktop Printer and press command-L (To make the new printer
  26.                 the default.)

  28. 5) Print from you favorite application.
