Established in 1878, the Chabanais, affectionately known as the "House of All Nations," was the most luxurious brothel in Paris, with a staff of over twenty girls and sub-madams.
This mirrored establishment boasted an award-winning Japanese room, a Louis XVI room, a Roman room (displaying medals Toulouse-Lautrec had used as payment), and a Middle-Eastern room. The room of Edward VII had an elaborate bed decorated with heraldry, an ornate Indian panel, and a custom-made horse chair.
