Many mythologies treat certain incestuous relationships as quite acceptable. For example, the first case of Oedipal-like incest in Greek mythology occurred between Gaia and her son Uranus.
From that union came the first generation of Greek sky gods or Titans. These six brothers and sisters in turn mated with each other and gave birth to the famed Olympians. The intercourse of Gaia and Uranus also produced the monstrous Cyclops and Hecatoncheires.
