Henry IV enjoyed seducing the pretty abbesses of Montmarte and Longchamps. He married Marie de Medici and established himself at the Louvre with his harem of concubines and a brood of bastards and legitimate children.
From one of the masters of the Fontainebleau school of painting, he ordered a portrait of two of his mistresses, Gabrielle d'Estrée, the Duchess of Beaumont, and her sister. His outrageous acts made him say that he had "no fear of making God a cuckold."
