Upon Gaia's orders, half of the cosmic egg became the sky. The other half became a flat disk, the earth. Then Gaia engendered Uranus, who governed the sky. Gaia then created the mountains and the sea that girds the terrestrial disk.
Beneath the ground she created the nether world. Gaia and Uranus - mother and son - mated. Out of their incestuous union came the monstrous Cyclops and Hecatonchires, as well as twelve Titans who would again mate incestuously.
