- The minimum amount of free conventional memory must be 600 kb of free RAM
- and 2.9 MB of free XMS. Total free memory required is 3.5 MB for a 4 MB
- Version.

- Note: Users with 4 MB system who do not have sufficient memory may have to
- create a boot disk to run the FX Fighter Demo. Please ensure you have
- enough free RAM to run the game.

- The DEMO is 3.5 MB compressed
- The DEMO is 7.1 MB uncompressed

- Installation
- -------------------
- 1. Create a temporary directory by typing in 'md filename'.
- 2. Download the DEMO.ZIP file into the temporary directory.
- 3. Once the download is complete, pkunzip the demo.zip file into the
- temporary directory created in step 1.
- For example: c:\filename>pkunzip demo.zip -d.
- Please make sure you use the -d option which will restore/create
- the directory structure stored in the .ZIP file.
- 4. To setup the sound and other options, type setup at the C:\>FXDEMO
- prompt and select the appropriate sound card for your system.

- Sound Card Setup
- --------------------
- The following sound cards are directly supported by FX Fighter: SoundBlaster,
- SoundBlaster Pro (I,II,III),SoundBlaster Pro 16 (ASP optional), and Gravis
- Ultrasound. If you do not have one of the sound cards listed above, you
- can run the game in the SoundBlaster Emulation/Compatible mode.

- To setup your sound card with FX Fighter follow the steps below:
- 1. Type setup at the FXDEMO prompt, highlight "Change Settings" and press
- Enter. Select the appropriate sound card that matches your hardware. If
- your sound card is not listed you will need to select the "SoundBlaster
- and Compatible" option. Once you have selected your sound card, press
- Enter.
- 2. Next, you will be prompted to select the settings ('Environment String')
- for your sound card. If your card is set at the default settings select
- 'Yes.' Otherwise select 'No' and enter the correct Address Port, IRQ,
- and DMA settings.
- 3. Test the sound with the selection you have just chosen by going to the
- "Test Sound" option. If the sound is operating correctly highlight the
- "Yes" option and press Enter. If the sound is not working properly,
- check and verify your sound card settings and rerun the FX Fighter Demo
- 'SETUP.' Check the sound card manufacturer's documentation regarding
- information on verifying current settings.
- 4. Once you have your sound card operating properly select "SAVE SETTINGS
- AND EXIT."

- Starting The Game
- ---------------------
- 1. Start your system using MS-DOS 5.0 or higher.
- 2. Change the current directory to the FXDEMO directory. For example, to
- change to the FXDEMO directory, type CD\FXDEMO and press Enter.
- 3. Type FIGHT to start the game.
- 4. If you have less than 4.5 of free memory you will be prompted that you
- are running on the 4 meg version.

- DEMO
- ----------------------
- The DEMO consists of 1 Player and 2 Player (VS.) mode only. The
- user will only be able to select from two characters (Jake or Magnon).
- However, Jake will be the only computer player available in the 1 Player
- mode. All other characters cannot be selected in this DEMO.

- The Lava World is the only environment available on this DEMO.
-
- The user will have the ability to configure the game by going into the
- "OPTIONS" menu, but not all features are available in the demo. The
- following list of features are adjustable/operational in the Configuration
- Menu.
- BOUT OPTIONS
- Game Speed - Slow, Normal, Fast, Turbo
- Autosave Stats - On/Off
- Sound/CD Volume - User Adjustable
- KEYBOARD
- All default key settings are adjustable. To change default settings
- press the SPACE BAR and select the new key. Use the arrow keys or
- the JUMP and DUCK keys (Default P1 A & Z, P2 L & comma) to move
- around the screen.
- Note: Please ensure that the key you wish to change is the one
- that is highlighted.
- JOYSTICK
- To calibrate the controller highlight the word "CALIBRATE" and
- press the SPACE BAR or the punch button (A) on the controller.
- Follow the instructions prompts underneath the respective Joystick
- to finish the calibration sequence.
- Note: Four button joysticks may conflict with the second player
- utilizing the keyboard. We recommend playing the demo with a
- two button controller.
- DETAIL LEVELS
- The detail levels are user adjustable. On lower end platforms
- (486/33DX), we recommend that setting are set to LOW and OFF.
- Trying to run the game at high detail settings may slow down game
- performance. The user will be able to adjust the detail level of
- the characters and the floor.
- Note: The "Perspective" option is intended only for high end PCs.
- You should not use the "Perspective" option unless you are running
- the game from a Pentium PC.
