  27.   <p class="Head2">SOT Office has the following features.</p>
  28.   <p class="Head3">Calculating</p>
  29.   <p class="Paragraph">SOT Office Calc is primarily a spreadsheet program. This means you have a spreadsheet containing cells in which you can enter text, digits and math formulas. The calculation results can be seen at any time. SOT Office Calc has numerous automatic functions to facilitate your work. If, for example, you want to see the sum of several numbers, select them and read the total from the <help:link Id="66924" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">status bar</help:link>.</p>
  30.   <p class="Paragraph">Not only does SOT Office Calc provide the basic calculation types but also numerous calculation methods that can be entered interactively with the <help:link Id="66841" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">AutoPilot: Functions</help:link>. Additionally, you can enter text and flexibly arrange the cells, so you can comfortably style, fill out, calculate and print your own forms with SOT Office Calc.</p>
  31.   <p class="Head3">Database Functions</p>
  32.   <p class="Paragraph">If your data can be summarized into records, such as addresses, inventory levels, customer orders, video collection or similar, then these can also be managed by SOT Office Calc. Even if you do not want to calculate anything, you can, for example, quickly sort the database range and search your data for specific characteristics, such as maximum or minimum or other details.</p>
  33.   <p class="Head3">Arranging Data</p>
  34.   <p class="Paragraph">It is easy to display entered data (e.g. daily receipts of all cash registers) in a threaded way. Arrange the view with a few mouse-clicks to show an overview of weekly or monthly receipts or only the totals of register 1.</p>
  35.   <p class="Head3">Examining and Extrapolating Data</p>
  36.   <p class="Paragraph">The data in your SOT Office Calc tables can be examined in detail in many different ways. SOT Office Calc is extremely useful for creating term papers because it supports many statistical procedures, from regression analyses to confidence intervals. And for daily calculations at work, the integrated time-adjusted financial <help:link Id="66815" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">functions</help:link> are helpful, because they can be used to print detailed tables of current credits and loans and other data.</p>
  37.   <p class="Head3">What-If Calculations</p>
  38.   <p class="Paragraph">An interesting feature is immediately viewing results of changes made to one factor of calculations composed of several factors. For instance, see how changing the period in a loan calculation affects the interest rates or repayment amounts.</p>
  39.   <p class="Paragraph">Furthermore, you can manage larger tables by using different predefined scenarios.</p>
  40.   <p class="Head3">Charts</p>
  41.   <p class="Paragraph">Display spreadsheet data in a clear way by selecting the data to be displayed and clicking <span class="T1">Insert Chart</span> under <span class="T1">Insert Object</span> on the toolbar. The cursor changes to a small chart symbol denoting you can now insert a chart. Draw out a frame at the required position, define specific chart settings in the dialog which opens or use the default settings. The corresponding chart is inserted at the selected position.</p>
  42.   <p class="Head3">Importing and Exporting Data</p>
  43.   <p class="Paragraph">You are, of course, not restricted to using the SOT Office Calc format. You can import data from other spreadsheets (e.g. Lotus and Excel), calculate them in SOT Office Calc and, if you want, output them in different <help:link Id="65614" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">export formats</help:link>. Cells defined in Excel with the Center Across Selection attribute are imported as merged cells. Since SOT Office Calc backgrounds cannot contain patterns, they are converted to equivalent gray or color shades during import.</p>

  51.   <p class="Head3">Exchanging Data in Networks and Internet</p>
  52.   <p class="Paragraph">Instead of having a fixed value or formula that refers to other cells in the sheet, each SOT Office Calc cell can contain a reference to contents contained in other documents. It is also possible to have formula of this kind, e.g. "Take the value of the 'Turnover' cell in document 'Turnover96', add the value of the 'Costs' cell in the 'Costs96' document and enter the result in the current cell. The documents referred to do not have to be on your computer hard disk, they can be stored on a network server or anywhere within the Internet.</p>
  53.   <p class="Head3">Integration in SOT Office</p>
  54.   <p class="Paragraph">The entire SOT Office Suite interacts smoothly. SOT Office Calc spreadsheets can easily be used in SOT Office Writer text documents and SOT Office Impress drawings, while text and drawings can be added to spreadsheets for illustration purposes. No changes are required to operate the modules, it is all done from one place.</p>
