TEXT The Star Map is used for navigating around Sector Prime. You begin with your ship in orbit around a yellow star named Glory.<br><br>When you move your mouse over a star system its boundaries will highlight and two buttons will appear. ENGAGE will causes your ship to move to the chosen star. VIEW displays information about the star system. Note that a travel time estimate is also shown along the "star lane" to the destination. It is best to avoid long trips and moving through nebula areas until you acquire better star drives.<br><br>At the top left of the screen are a number of icons. Click the green box icon to view your Cargo Hold or the ship icon to view your Starship. The pause/play/fast forward buttons can be used to pause the game during flight or fast forward if the flight is taking too long.<br><br>Press F1 to evoke a HELP window at any time.

TITL Tutorial: Home World Trade
TEXT In this star system there is a colony where you can trade items based on their value. Move your mouse over an item to see its cost in Interstellar Credicoins. In order to buy the item you must leave something of equal value on the planet.<br><br>Click the cargo and ship icons at the top of the screen to see what you have. Click any item or ship system to pick it up and then drop it in the planet window to sell it. As you do this credit accrues and is displayed alongside available items. Now you can buy any item with a value up to or equal to your credit.

TEXT You have arrived at a colony world of an alien race that has peculiar ideas about the concept of fair trading. They will exchange any one item they possess for any one of yours regardless of their actual value.<br><br>Click the cargo and ship icons at the top of the screen to see what you have. Then click any item or ship system to pick it up. Now you can click on any object on the planet to swap the two, or click within the planet window to sell the held item for credit. One credit will allow you to take one item.

TEXT You have explored a planet and found one or more items or lifeforms. The exploration window displays a picture and description of the planet. You can rename the newly-found world if you wish.<br><br>Displayed below the planet description are any items that you found there. Click an item to pick it up, then click the cargo icon to store the item in the cargo hold. Note that clicking this icon with no item held will open the cargo hold display so you can view and manipulate its contents.

TITL Tutorial: New Ally
TEXT A new ship has been added to your flotilla. It is shown on the starship display on the left side of the screen. This display shows an image of the ship and the firing arcs of its weapons.<br><br>Click the small "ship outline" icon on the top left of the starship display to switch to the systems view (toggle). In this mode you can look at various ship systems installed onboard.<br><br>You may also change the ship's position in your flotilla's formation by clicking the ship formation button (three triangles enclosed by a circle).

TITL Tutorial: Alien Encounter
TEXT Your sensors have detected one or more alien vessels within this star system. You may either avoid them, which moves you to the nearest friendly star, or engage them which may result in combat.<br><br>Without allies and powerful weapons combat can be very dangerous, especially if there are several enemy starships. However, not all aliens are hostile so it is worthwhile to make contact with previously unknown races. If things turn ugly and combat ensues, you can usually retreat if you act quickly enough.

TITL Tutorial: Combat
TEXT The Battle View displays starship combat. Combat is played out in real time. You may pause combat at any time by clicking the PAUSE button or by pressing the SPACEBAR.<br><br>All actions (orders) are executed on the BATTLE VIEW by first selecting a friendly starship and then clicking something else.<br><br>Default actions are given by selecting one of your ships and a different or opposing ship and doing nothing else. SPECIAL ORDERS are given by selecting a friendly ship and then using either the aftertouch popup or the CONTROL BAR.<br><br>The aftertouch popup appears when you click a ship and hold the mouse button down. A list of special tactical options will appear in a half of a second, or immediately if you drag the mouse.<br><br>The CONTROL BAR seen at the upper right of the screen displays buttons for issuing orders to selected ships. Click on a ship and its particular special option buttons will be displayed.<br><br>Note that on the upper left side of the screen you may select ships, increase, decrease or stop the passage of time and utilize artifacts. If you see no artifact icons, you haven't found any that are useful in combat yet.

TITL Tutorial: Ship Damage
TEXT One of your ships has been damaged. Note that this ship's icon blinks red. Click the icon to view the damaged ship. <br><br>If a ship system is disabled it will blink red on the starship display. Click on the broken system to repair it.<br><br>If the hull of the ship is damaged, you will see a hull damage bar. Click this bar to repair the hull.<br><br>Note that if you are in the process of selecting a star to flee to after retreating from combat, you cannot repair until you finish moving.

TITL Tutorial: Formation
TEXT The formation window allows you to set up how your ships will be arranged in combat. Simply click and drag any ship where you want it to be in relation to the flagship (the first ship in your flotilla - look at the ship icons on the top left of the screen). Whenever you engage in combat all your ships will follow the flagship until given other orders.<br><br>If you wish to designate another ship as your flagship, select it and then click the LEADER button. Note that a fighter cannot be assigned to be the flagship.
