- UnPacking Files
-
- On this CD, you will find a number of files are packed with ©Lha
- or ©DMS. To extract these files, we have given you GUIARC (by Patrick
- Van Beem), probably the best extractor program on the Amiga in terms
- of ease of use.
-
-
- Where ever there are archived fileson the CD you should find a copy of
- GUIARC. The reason we did that was to save you having to go in and
- out of directories looking for it whenever you wanted to decompress
- a file.
-
- There are two main types of compressed files on this CD. One is Lha,
- the other DMS. The DMS files are useful because in the case of
- ImageStudio and ProPage to name but two, by using GUIARC to extract
- the files from the DMS archives, you can have it create the floppy
- disk necessary to install these programs on to your hard drive.
-
-
- Before you extract any files, make sure you have the following files
- in your C drawer on Workbench.
-
- - Lha
- - DMS
-
- These can be found in the C drawer on this CD.
-
- To create a floppy disk from a file ending in ".dms", do
- the following:
-
- 1> Run GUIarc.
-
- 2> In the left-hand listview, type CD0: in the path gadget so
- the program reads in the contents of CD0: (or type DTP_ToolBox:)
-
- 3> Find the DMS file you want to decompress and select it.
-
- 4> Place a blank floppy disk in df0:
-
- 5> Click on the right-hand DF0 button.
-
- 6> Click on the left-hand Ext/Cp button.
-
- 7> A window will appear asking you to insert a disk and press Return.
- As you already have a floppy disk in the drive, press Return.
-
- 8> DMS will now create a floppy disk with the files in the archive.
- The disk will be renamed and be ready to use to install the program
- onto your hard drive just the same as if we had sent you the floppy
- disk direct.
