Transcription: Although the German fighter pilots fought bravely and sometimes with success over Normandy, they were quite unable to provide adequate air protection for sorely tried German ground forces. The latter had an aircraft recognition catchphrase that illustrated their plight. If the aircraft above us were camouflaged, they were British. If they were silver, they were American. And if they weren't there at all, they were German.
