Lieutenant Colonel NPH Tapp, commanding the 7th Field Regiment of the Royal Artillery later wrote, As we landed, the beach was packed with armored vehicles, guns and tanks. 76th and 33rd Field Regiments were unable to get off the beach, so were firing from the water's edge. The houses screened them, so most enemy shells either hit the houses or passed overhead into the sea.
