Transcription: Operation Overlord was conceived on a vast scale, and so too is the Overlord embroidery. It was commissioned by Lord Dulverton, who himself served in Normandy in 1944, as a permanent memorial and record of the effort made by the Allied nations to liberate Europe from Nazi domination. The embroidery is the largest of its kind in the world, consisting of 34 panels, each 8 feet long and 3 feet high, and measuring a total of 272 feet.
