- Vicky Jones is designing the Introduction page of the software catalog.
- |
- As this is the first page of the catalog, she would like to make it stand out from the rest of the document.
- |
- With the document opened in Page Layout view, she decides to start by applying some borders.
- |
- She selects ^UFormat - Borders^u ^Uand Shading^u from the menu bar.
- |
- The Borders and Shading dialog box displays.
- |
- Vicky makes sure the ^UPage^u ^UBorder^u tab is selected.
- |
- She wants borders to be applied to the Introduction page only.
- |
- In the Apply to drop-down list on the Page Border tabbed page, she selects ^UThis^u ^Usection - First page only^u.
- |
- A number of different border styles are available to Vicky in the Style list box.
- |
- When she scrolls down the list and selects a style, she can see a preview of the effect in the Preview section on the right.
- |
- The border appears all around the page because the ^UBox^u icon in the Setting section is selected by default.
- |
- Vicky clicks the ^UShadow^u icon to see how the border would look with a shadow added to it.
- |
- She then clicks the ^U3-D^u icon to see what effect this would have.
- |
- But she decides not to use either of these settings, and to put a border along the top and bottom of the page only.
- |
- Vicky first removes all the borders from the page.
- |
- To do this she clicks the ^UNone^u icon.
- |
- She then applys a border to the bottom of the page.
- |
- To do this she clicks the ^UBottom Border^u button in the Preview section.
- |
- Vicky selects a matching border from the Style list box to go along the top of the page.
- |
- Then she clicks the ^UTop Border^u button.
- @@
- Vicky has other choices open to her in selecting borders for her page.
- |
- For example, she can choose a different color for her border from the Color drop-down list.
- |
- Vicky can change the width of her borders using the Width drop-down list.
- |
- To preview these effects, she clicks the relevant border once in the Preview section.
- |
- She can also click the appropriate border button once to deselect the original style and click it again to select the new style.
- |
- Vicky can select a more decorative pattern for her border from the illustrated styles in the Art drop-down list.
- |
- Here she can scroll through the selection to choose an Art style.
- |
- When she selects it, she can see the effect in the Preview section.
- |
- The new border appears by default on all four sides of the page, but Vicky can deselect any of these sides by clicking the relevant border buttons.
- |
- For example, clicking the ^USide Border^u buttons removes the artistic border from the sides of the page.
- |
- You can also remove borders by clicking in the Preview section.
- |
- Vicky can change the width and color of her Art style selection if she wishes.
- |
- You can change the color of black and white Art style borders only. Colored Art style borders cannot be altered.
- |
- However, she prefers the original border, so she returns to this and clicks ^UOK^u.
- |
- Vicky can now see her page with the borders added.
- |
- She could scroll down to see the border along the bottom of the page.
- |
- But a more effective way to do this is to click the ^UPrint Preview^u button.
- |
- She could also select ^UWhole^u ^UPage^u from the Zoom drop-down list in the Standard toolbar.
- |
- The entire page can now be seen with the borders displayed along the top and bottom.
- @@
- Vicky has inserted some text into the lower half of the Introduction page of the software catalog.
- |
- To emphasize the paragraph, she wants to put it in a shaded box with a border around it.
- |
- First she justifies the text by highlighting it and clicking the ^UJustify^u button in the Formatting toolbar.
- |
- Vicky selects the text, taking in the line above and below it.
- |
- And chooses ^UFormat - Borders and^u ^UShading^u from the menu bar.
- |
- The Borders and Shading dialog box appears.
- |
- You can apply borders and shading to paragraphs by choosing the ^UTables and^u ^UBorders^u button in the Standard toolbar.
- |
- This displays the Table and Borders toolbar, which has fewer options than the Borders and Shading dialog box.
- |
- But if you prefer to use it, you can switch to it by clicking the ^UShow Toolbar^u button in the Borders and Shading dialog box.
- |
- In the Borders tabbed page of the Borders and Shading dialog box, Vicky selects ^UParagraph^u from the Apply to drop-down list.
- |
- She then selects a border style from the Style list box.
- |
- In the Preview section the border can be seen applied to all four sides of the paragraph because the ^UBox^u icon is selected by default.
- |
- Vicky could select from the ^UNone^u, ^UShadow^u, or ^U3-D^u icons and see these different effects in the Preview section.
- |
- She could also apply a different color or width to her border.
- |
- But she is happy with her choice, so she now clicks the ^UShading^u tab.
- |
- Vicky wants to highlight the paragraph with shading to make it stand out.
- |
- So she selects ^UParagraph^u in the Apply to drop-down list.
- |
- And in the Fill section she can select a color from the palette and see its effect in the Preview section.
- |
- You can apply color and pattern, but not texture, to shading to change the fill effect.
- |
- Vicky can change the fill effect by scrolling down the ^UStyle^u drop-down list in the Patterns section.
- |
- When she makes a selection she can see the effect in the Preview section.
- |
- Vicky can change the color of a pattern by choosing from the Color drop-down list.
- |
- But after previewing this effect, she decides not to use it after all.
- |
- She chooses ^UGray-10%^u instead from the Fill section.
- |
- And she clicks ^UOK^u.
- |
- When she removes the highlighting, Vicky can see her paragraph with the border and shading added.
- @@
- Let's create a page border.

- |

- |
- Vicky would now like to format her WordArt object, to add color and a gradient to it.
- |
- She clicks the ^UFormat WordArt^u button in the WordArt toolbar.
- |
- The Format WordArt dialog box displays.
- |
- You can also select ^UWordArt^u from the ^UFormat^u menu.
- |
- In the Colors and Lines tabbed page, Vicky selects ^UBlue^u from the Color palette in the Fill section.
- @@
- Vicky wants to apply a gradient to the WordArt object.
- |
- To apply a gradient to the WordArt object, Vicky clicks the ^UFill Effects^u button in the Color palette.
- |
- The Fill Effects dialog box displays.
- |
- In the Colors section of the Gradient tabbed page, Vicky clicks the ^UTwo colors^u radio button.
- |
- Color 1 is Blue.
- |
- In the Color 2 palette she selects ^USky Blue^u.
- |
- She can see the two-color shading effect in the Sample area on the right.
- |
- You can choose the direction of a gradient in a WordArt object by clicking one of the following radio buttons in the Shading Styles section:
- |
- Horizontal
- |
- Vertical
- |
- Diagonal up
- |
- Diagonal down
- |
- From corner
- |
- From center
- |
- In the Shading styles section Vicky clicks the ^UDiagonal up^u radio button.
- |
- She likes this effect, so she clicks ^UOK^u.
- |
- Vicky clicks ^UOK^u in the Format WordArt dialog box.
- |
- The colors and gradient are now applied to the WordArt object.

- Vicky wants to insert Centurion Technologies' logo as a watermark behind the word "Introduction".
- |
- To do this she first chooses ^UInsert -^u ^UPicture - From File^u from the menu bar.
- |
- In the Insert Picture dialog box Vicky selects the logo she wishes to use, and clicks the ^UInsert^u button.
- |
- The logo appears in the document.
- |
- To format the picture, Vicky first right-clicks it to select it and bring up the shortcut menu.
- |
- She could select ^UFormat Picture^u, but to display the Picture toolbar she chooses ^UShow Picture Toolbar^u.
- |
- ^UEdit Picture^u opens the image in Photo Editor and is used to edit photographs that have been inserted from a scanner.
- |
- The Picture toolbar displays.
- |
- You can also display the Picture toolbar by choosing ^UView - Toolbars -^u ^UPicture^u from the menu bar.
-
- Or you can right-click on any toolbar and select ^UPicture^u from the pop-up list.
- |
- Before she can place the picture behind the text, Vicky first needs to prevent the text from wrapping.
- |
- She clicks the ^UText Wrapping^u button.
- |
- And she selects ^UNone^u in the drop-down list.
- @@
- Vicky can alter her picture in several ways using the Picture toolbar.
- |
- She can
-
- ò change the contrast using the ^UMore^u
- ^UContrast^u or ^ULess Contrast^u buttons
- |
- ò change the brightness using the
- ^UMore Brightness^u or ^ULess Brightness^u
- buttons
- |
- ò crop the picture
- |
- ò put a line around the picture
- |
- Vicky clicks the ^UFormat Picture^u button in the Picture toolbar.
- |
- In the Picture tabbed page of the Format Picture dialog box, you can crop a picture using more precise measurements.
- |
- You can also alter the brightness and contrast more precisely.
- |
- You can alter the wrapping style in the Wrapping tabbed page.
- |
- Text wrapping allows you to place a picture anywhere in your document - even in the margin - and have text flow around it.
-
- You can use text wrapping to specify how far from the text your picture will be and to shape the text in any way you want around the picture.
- |
- And you can change the position of a picture in the Position tabbed page.
- |
- In the Size tabbed page you can change your picture's size.
- |
- And in the Colors and Lines tabbed page you can put a colored line around your picture.
- |
- But Vicky prefers not to make any of these formatting changes, so she closes the Format Picture dialog box.
- |
- In the Picture toolbar Vicky clicks the ^UImage Control^u button.
- |
- She selects ^UWatermark^u from the drop-down list.
- |
- The logo changes to a watermark.
- |
- Vicky is satisfied with the tone of the watermark.
- |
- You can alter the brightness and contrast of a watermark using the Format Picture dialog box.
- |
- So she drags it across to the word "Introduction".
- |
- The watermark appears on top of Introduction.
- |
- To reposition the watermark behind the word, Vicky right-clicks it, and selects ^UOrder - Send to Back^u from the shortcut menu.
- |
- In this instance, because there are only two objects involved, choosing ^USend Backward^u or ^USend Behind^u ^UText^u would have the same effect.
- |
- The watermark now appears behind "Introduction".

- |
- She then selects ^UGrouping -^u ^UGroup^u.
- |
- You can also select ^UGroup^u from the ^UDraw^u menu on the Drawing toolbar.
- |
- The sizing handles change to show that the two objects are now selected as a group.
- |
- Vicky right-clicks the group and selects ^UFormat Object^u from the shortcut menu.
- |
- You can also select ^UFormat -^u ^UObject^u from the menu bar.
- |
- In the Format Object dialog box that displays, she selects the Position tabbed page.

- |
- She types in ^R1.5"^r.
- |
