  17. TECHNICAL NOTES
  18.  
  19. QuicKeys Actions are preserved after performing an
  20. uninstall. If QuicKeys is reinstalled, the Actions
  21. previously created will be available. To completely
  22. remove QuicKeys, delete all Actions from the QuicKeys
  23. Editor prior to uninstalling QuicKeys.
  24.  
  25. QuicKeys incorporates compression code from the
  26. Info-ZIP group.  There are no extra charges or
  27. costs due to the use of this code, and the 
  28. original compression sources are freely available
  29. from http://www.cdrom.com/pub/infozip/.

  32. KNOWN ISSUES
  33.  
  34. QuicKeys can not record or playback from the
  35. Start Menu in Windows 98 or any machine with Internet
  36. Explorer 4.0 with the shell update installed.
  37.  
  38. Browsing for menu items in Microsoft Word, Excel,
  39. Outlook 98 and some versions of Internet Explorer
  40. does not work using the Select Menu Action, but can
  41. be recorded and played back successfully using standard
  42. sequence recording.
  43.  
  44. Mouse clicks and keystrokes do not get converted to
  45. Select Menu Actions when recording in Microsoft Word,
  46. Excel, Outlook 98 and some versions of Internet
  47. Explorer. However, these items will play back correctly.
  48.  
  49. The Microsoft Office Assistant must be disabled when
  50. recording a sequence which involves switching to or from
  51. a Microsoft Office program.
  52.  
  53. If you record a sequence in Microsoft Word or Excel
  54. which involves menu items, do not change the zoom state
  55. of the document window after recording.  Changing the 
  56. zoom state shifts the menus which will cause the 
  57. sequence to fail on playback.
  58.  
  59. When using a Type Text Action to enter a large amount of
  60. text into Microsoft Word, you will experience a delay
  61. before the text appears on the screen. Word does not
  62. display the text until the Type Text Action is completed.
  63.  
  64. Selections copied from Microsoft Office and other OLE
  65. Server applications will be displayed in the QuicKeys
  66. Clipbook as thumbnails.  These selections will paste
  67. properly.
  68.  
  69. For maximum performance and reliability, use a
  70. Clipbook Action instead of a Type Text Action when
  71. pasting large amounts of text (over 400 characters).
  72.  
  73. The right shift and right control keys will not
  74. work as hot keys under Windows NT.
  75.  
  76. The Special Characters Action dialog may display several
  77. rectangular boxes instead of characters if the current
  78. system font does not support these characters.
  79.  
  80. Older applications (16-bit) cannot be scoped under
  81. Windows NT 4.0.
  82.  
  83. Programs that use command line parameters to launch will
  84. not show up in the program lists in QuicKeys. Use the
  85. "Browse" option to select these programs.
  86.  
  87. The "Up One Folder" Change Folder Action only works in
  88. open and save dialogs. It does not work in Explorer views.
  89.  
  90. During Type Text and Menu Select Actions, the mouse
  91. cursor will not move until the Action has completed.
  92. If the mouse cursor does not move after completion or you
  93. need to abort the Action, press "Control + Esc".
  94.  
  95. To ensure that all Actions are captured when recording
  96. a sequence, wait for the recording palette or the
  97. blinking microphone icon in the taskbar before performing
  98. the steps to record.

  100. For best results, restart your computer before
  101. reinstalling QuicKeys.
  102.  
  103. Using Alt key combinations to trigger Advanced Text Tool
  104. Actions or Copy selection to Clipbook Actions is not
  105. recommended.
  106.  
  107. If you are using Adobe products, avoid using
  108. "Shift + Alphanumeric" hot keys to trigger Type Text
  109. Actions.

  111. If you are using Adobe products, avoid using
  112. "Alt + Alphanumeric" hot keys to trigger Menu Select
  113. Actions.

  139. CE Software makes no warranty whatsoever regarding
  140. QuicKeys' performance in conjunction with software
  141. outside of CE Software's direct control.
