  2. PORK is a parody of the classic Infocom text adventure ZORK I, THE GREAT
  3. UNDERGROUND EMPIRE which was written by 'Diabolical' Dave Lebling and
  4. 'Maniacal' Marc Blank and originally published by Infocom in 1981.  ZORK has
  5. sold more copies than any other adventure game (and probably more copies than
  6. any other program -- period).  It is truly a classic!  In writing PORK, I have
  7. tried to retain some of the cleverness, low cunning, and humor of ZORK --
  8. while poking a little good-natured fun at it.

  10. You do not need to have played ZORK to enjoy PORK.  However, previous
  11. experience with ZORK may give you some clues for solving some of PORK's
  12. puzzles -- then again, it may not.

  14. If you get totally stuck, PORK.SOL has the complete "walkthru" solution for
  15. the game.  However, look at PORK.SOL as a last resort!

  17. PORK uses a "beta-test" version of the Adventure Game Toolkit.  This version
  18. has a number of improvements over the most recently "offically" released
  19. version of AGT (version 1.3).  Specifically, the "beta-test" version has: (1)
  20. an OOPS feature, (2) the ability for the user to customize the "look-and-feel"
  21. of the game's interface, and (3) an optional "menu-driven" parser.

  23. The interface/options/menu may be changed by hitting the ESC key while playing
  24. the game.

  30. try all the options, and let me know what worked right, what worked wrong,
  31. what you think should be changed and/or improved, and, generally, how you
  32. liked the new version.

  51. NOTE:  The option menu has an option labeled GRAPHICS which may be set ON or
  52.        OFF.  This option does not do anything in the current 1.6 "beta-test"
  53.        version.  In Version 2.0 of AGT (which I am hard at work on) this
  54.        option will enable the user to view .PCX graphics files during the
  55.        adventure.
