  1. PROBLEM:  ABORT: "Call to undefined dynalink."
  2. SOLUTION: Missing *.DLL file.  Try reinstalling Quicktime.
  3.           If that fails, try copying all the *.DLL files from the D:\QTSETUP
  4.           and D:\QTSETUP\BIN directories.
  5.           Try copying ALL the files from the D:\QTSETUP and D:\QTSETUP\BIN
  6.           directories.
  7.  
  8. PROBLEM:  ABORT: "Out of Subscript" when trying to continue.
  9. SOLUTION: You need to load a game first then continue.  Otherwise you will get
  10.           this and the game will kick you out. -=JLJ=-

  12. PROBLEM:  ABORT: GPF's and reboots
  13. SOLUTION: Turn off screen savers -NK
  14.           Try a different video driver.  Try using a 256 color driver. -NK
  15.           ATI Mach 64 MAY be a problem. Call ATI to get the latest QuickTime
  16.           2.0-compatible drivers.   -NK
  17.           Cirrus Logic 64,000 color drivers might not be compatible -NK & BB &
  18.           JC
  19.           Diamond Stealth 64 happened once so far - BB
  20.           Trident drivers have problems Too!- FS
  21.  
  22. PROBLEM:  AUDIO: Choppy speech.
  23. SOLUTION: Try adding a "/U" after Smartdrv.exe.  This will disable caching for
  24.           the CD-ROM.
  25.           Also, make sure you're running in 640x480x256 for the best
  26.           performance.
  27.  
  28. PROBLEM:  AUDIO: Popping noise using Ensoniq Soundscape
  29. SOLUTION: Advise the customer to download the latest drivers from Ensoniq.
  30.           This should cure the problem as the new drivers activate the general
  31.           midi and soundblaster drivers upon initialization. FS
  32.  
  33. PROBLEM:  CHEAT: JUMP TO any part of the game
  34. SOLUTION: From the Main Menu select GAME.  Hit ALT-F5.  Pick JUMP TO and it
  35.           will show thumbnails of various scenes in the game.  Click on one to
  36.           jump to it. -NK
  37.  
  38. PROBLEM:  CHEAT: Skip a puzzle
  39. SOLUTION: Use ALT-SHIFT and the first letter of the puzzle's name.  For
  40.           example, to skip the Probe Logic Circuit Puzzle by pressing
  41.           ALT-SHIFT-P.  The exception is the Orbit puzzle- use ALT-SHIFT-I.
  42.           The code is different for each puzzle.  Norm has a complete listing
  43.           and will pass it out soon.  -NK

  45. PROBLEM:  ERROR: MMPlay Sound: Can't open sound device
  46. SOLUTION: This isn't caused by Daedalus but by a previous sound glitch.
  47.           Turning the computer OFF then ON (Reset will not work) should take
  48.           care of it. -NK
  49.           -Related to Microsoft Sound Mapper driver not being installed. - BB
  50.  
  51. PROBLEM:  ERROR: This application requires QuickTime 2.0 or greater
  52. SOLUTION: Run SETUP.EXE from D:\QTSETUP (that is, from the CD drive) -NK

  54. PROBLEM:  LOCKUP: Gets to Main Menu screen and clicking on buttons does
  55.           nothing.
  56. SOLUTION: Somehow related to Microsoft Sound Mapper 1.0 is my guess.  Try
  57.           updating to 2.00?  (I think it comes with the SB16.  Please find out
  58.           which they have.) - BB
  59.           Confirmed MS mouse ver 9.01 Doesn't work.
  60.           But Logitech 6.24 mouse drivers work!-FS
  61.           I've tried MS 9.0 and 8.2, and both work fine. -NK
  62.           Take complete CSR.

  64. PROBLEM:  LOCKUP: Locks up
  65. SOLUTION: Check to see if the hard drive or CD-ROM are being read.  Using
  66.           Minimum Install can cause some long waits.  -NK
  67.  
  68. PROBLEM:  LOCKUP: Screen goes black
  69. SOLUTION: Might be in a dark area.  Try clicking FLOODLIGHT. -NK
  70.  
  71. PROBLEM:  MISC: I can't delete it from my hard drive.
  72. SOLUTION: Some files are marked read-only and some are hidden.  Use File
  73.           Manager and keep answering YES to the warning. Of course, make sure
  74.           they're deleting the right thing... -NK
  75.  
  76. PROBLEM:  MISC: I saved a game, but when I restore it's not there.
  77. SOLUTION: Use the CONTINUE option.  In the MAIN MENU click on LOAD and choose
  78.           your save file.  Click on GAME then CONTINUE.  This puts you back
  79.           into your game.  After that, when they go back to the MAIN MENU
  80.           their JUMP TO option will work. -NK
  81.  
  82. PROBLEM:  MISC: Offensive language
  83. SOLUTION: It got the equivalent rating of a PG-13 movie.  It's part of the
  84.           realism. -NK
  85.  
  86. PROBLEM:  MISC: Zack asks if I want to go to Mizar, but clicking on YES or NO
  87.           doesn't work.
  88. SOLUTION: It takes a while to accept your response when using the mouse.  Wait
  89.           a few seconds and try again.  Either response will work.  -NK
  90.           Hitting Y or N on the keyboard works. -NK
  91.  
  92. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: Any video problems
  93. SOLUTION: I suspect the ATI Mach 64.  It doesn't work that well with QuickTime
  94.           2.0. Maybe try contacting Apple or ATI about it to check for newer
  95.           drivers. -NK
  96.           Use "Small Fonts" on your video driver. -NK
  97.  
  98. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: Can it run in full screen?
  99. SOLUTION: Hit SPACEBAR to switch to full screen and back -NK
  100.  
  101. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: Half on top of screen, Half on bottom.
  102. SOLUTION: I got one call on this so far, with a Video 7 board.  I suggested
  103.           updating the drivers, or obtaining the MicroSoft SVGA drivers.  Any
  104.           better ideas are welcome! - BB

  106. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: It's jumpy in full screen mode
  107. SOLUTION: It's gonna be.  It was jumpy on a Pentium with an ATI Mach 64 card.
  108.           Don't run in full screen mode (hit SPACEBAR to switch modes). -NK

  110. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: It's jumpy.
  111. SOLUTION: Add a /U after SMARTDRV.EXE in AUTOEXEC.BAT.  This disables caching
  112.           for CD-ROM drives.
  113.  
  114. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: Pallette is messed up.
  115. SOLUTION: Basically there is a problem with the beginning movie when starting
  116.           the game in 256 colors. When entering the game in 256 the palette is
  117.           incorrect and looks corrupted. If you leave the game and go back in
  118.           the problem can not be repeated. If you initially run in thousands
  119.           of colors the problem is not there. -NK (from Chris Archer)

  121. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: Runs too slowly
  122. SOLUTION: Use 256 or 32,000 color mode -NK
  123.           Use Maximum Install (as opposed to minimum install) -NK
  124.  
  125. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: The screen doesn't take up the whole monitor
  126. SOLUTION: Use 640 x 480 mode video -NK
  127.  
  128. PROBLEM:  VIDEO: Too grainy
  129. SOLUTION: Daedalus looks best in 64,000 colors.  Use 64k or 32k color mode.-NK
  130.  
  131. PROBLEM:  What do you use IR and UV on your MULTILIGHT control for?
  132. SOLUTION: Nothing.  They're just for fun!  -NK
