- E) WINDOWS NT AND WINDOWS 2000

- again and the install continues, and the game may play with no problems.
-
- F) HEAD TO HEAD
-
- It is recommended that you be connected to your Internet Service Provider before playing
- a multi-player game over the Internet.
-
- If you are playing behind a firewall or proxy server, the ports 47624, and the range
- 2300-2400 must be open for both inbound and outbound TCP and UDP traffic.
-
- The host machine determines the game speed.
-
- When playing Close Combat: Invasion Normandy, it is preferable to be on the same DirectX
- version. If you need to get another version of DirectX, go to www.microsoft.com/directx
- in order to download new DirectX versions.
-
- Once a connection method has been chosen, you cannot change the connection method until
- you go back to the main screen and reenter the multiplayer screen.
-
- G) GAME ERRATA : Information, Hints, and Tips
-
- Information
- 1) Sometimes during gameplay, soldiers under a Defend order may shoot at enemies you
- cannot see on the game screen. You learn about enemy soldiers through observation.
- Initially, you may only see a red dot on your map monitor representing enemy troops. You
- won't be able to see the actual enemy soldiers, but you will be able to see muzzle
- flashes if they fire at you. When you have had the enemy in your sights for some time,
- you will be able to get summary information on the enemy by moving the mouse pointer
- over the enemy team.
- 2) When you issue any kind of move order to a unit, that unit will attempt to deploy
- behind protective terrain in the direction of the move. For example, if you give a
- movement order to the north, the soldiers in that unit will look for cover to use
- against enemy soldiers to the north of them.
- 3) The Battle Debrief Screen and the Soldier Debrief Screen after a battle will depict
- different kill numbers. The Battle Debrief records all kills including those by
- secondary explosions. The Soldier Debrief Screen only depicts kills done directly by
- the individual soldiers.
- 4) If you issue a Fire order to a team that has broken or panicked, you may be able to
- place a target dot on a team that the broken or panicked team cannot see.
- 5) If you have Show pointer trails checked in the Mouse Properties dialog box (accessed
- using Control Panel), you may experience visual anomalies on your Close Combat: Invasion
- Normandy screens. Make sure you clear this check box before playing.
- 6) If you have your computer set to display customized large fonts (greater than 125% of
- normal size), you may have difficulty navigating the Options and Settings dialog boxes.
- To correct this problem, switch to large fonts or small fonts. To change the Windows
- font size:
- A. Start Control Panel.
- B. Double-click Display, click the Settings tab, and then click the Advanced
- button.
- C. In the Font Size list box, click Large Fonts or Small Fonts. You'll have to
- restart your computer before the new fonts take effect.
- 7) At times, you may find that your vehicles are having a hard time reaching the
- location you have designated for them. Keep in mind that large vehicles, like tanks,
- are not always able to manuever in small places. Trying to move your tank through narrow
- paths will result in either you receiving a "No Clear Path" message or your tank
- moving in strange directions in order to obey your impossible command.
- If you find that a tank, or any team for that matter, is having
- difficulty moving to the point you have designated, use waypoints and take small,
- incremental steps to get there. Do not forget that obstacles like destroyed vehicles
- can block the path of a tank.
- 8) The defending side gets to "dig in" after deploying. Any infantry unit and AT gun
- unit on defense will build a trench or weapon pit if they are deployed into an open
- area. Enemy troops will not immediately see the trenches, but they will appear when
- they come into LOS.
- 9) When playing as the client in a multi-player game, any saved operations and/or
- campaigns you have will be overwritten if you play a game of the same name.
- Example: If you had a saved campaign file called "The Invasion", that file will be
- overwritten if the host begins a operation and/or campaign of the same name.
- 10) When playing a multiplayer game, player names over 15 characters will be truncated.
-
- H) KNOWN ISSUES
-
- 1) We strongly suggest that you do not run any other applications when playing Close
- Combat.
- 2) Clicking both mouse buttons while the cursor is over a button or menu item may
- cause that button or menu item to remain highlighted, disabling all other buttons and
- menu items. To rectify this situation, click the right mouse button.
- 3) If you ALT+TAB out of the game, you may experience errors. We strongly suggest you
- do not ALT+TAB out of the game.
