  1. ABE'S EXODDUS REQUIRES 16-BIT HI-COLOR MODE

  3. If your SVGA display card doesn't support 16-bit High Color
  4. mode, then Abe's Exoddus will not run.
  5.  
  6. In addition, some older display cards that do support High Color
  7. mode don't switch to it properly under Direct X.  Before you
  8. call technical support, try this :
  9. Select Start->Settings->Control Panel, then Double click on
  10. Display to bring up the Display Properties dialog box.  Choose
  11. the Settings tab, and select "High Color (16 bit)", then click
  12. on OK.  You will be prompted to restart your computer, and
  13. after it restarts, try running the game again.  You may notice
  14. your wallpaper and icons look a lot better now, too!

  18. USING THE ALTERNATE DISPLAY MODES
  19.  
  20. If the game runs too slowly on your machine, or if the movies
  21. are jerky, you may want to try the alternate display modes.
  22. You must create a shortcut to run the AbeWin.exe program
  23. with the appropriate command line option.  First, locate
  24. the file AbeWin.exe (in the directory you installed to,
  25. probably C:\Program Files\Abe's Exoddus), and right click
  26. on the file.  Select "Create Shortcut", then find the
  27. Shortcut file created (called "Shortcut to Abe's Exoddus").
  28. Right click on this, then select Properties.  Choose the
  29. Shortcut tab, and edit the "Target" field, adding one of
  30. the following command line parameters to the end of the
  31. line (seperated from Exoddus.exe by a space) :

  33. -interline       Every other line is blacked out. 
  34. -vstretch        Lines are doubled (this may not work
  35.                  on some display cards, if it doesn't,
  36.                  use INTRLINE).

  38. Select OK, then click on this Shortcut to run Abe. You
  39. might want to rename the shortcut something more
  40. appropriate.
