  1. IMPORTANT!!  Please remember that Quake World is an UNSUPPORTED release.

  15. 1) Unzip the client in your quake directory.
  16. i.e. pkunzip filename
  17.  
  18. 2) From your Quake directory, run the file MFCINST.EXE by either
  19. double-clicking it in Explorer or typing MFCINST at the DOS Prompt
  20.  
  21. 3) You can launch Quake World by following one of two steps:
  22.  
  23. From a DOS prompt:
  24. - Change to your Quake directory. i.e. cd\quake
  25. - Type QW.EXE /QWFE and hit ENTER
  26.  
  27. In Windows 95:
  28. - Double click the QW application in your Quake folder
  29. - Go to the View menu and click "QuakeWorld"
  30.  
  31. 4) When QW starts, it will ask you for a login.  First, click on the drop down
  32. arrow next to Master Server and select 192.246.40.115:27000
  33. - Next type the name you wish to use in Quake World in the Name field
  34. - Give your self a password and click Login - you will then be connected to 
  35.   the master server and your account will be created.
  36. - If your account is created successfully you'll see a window with your User ID in it.
  37.  
  38. 5) Click on the Server menu and select Update Server List.  When this completes,
  39. double click on a server in the list to connect!
  40.  
  41. WRITE YOUR USER ID (a number) AND PASSWORD DOWN!
  42.  
  43. You will need both your User ID and password to
  44. gain access to the master server you selected in the
  45. future. 
  46.  
  47. (QWFE remembers your ID after you've entered it once
  48. and will auto login if you set the options in QW
  49. options).
