  15. -> 486 DX2 66mhz or better (recomend Pentium 75 or above)
  16. -> 6.5 Megs of free memory
  17. -> 15 Megs free hard drive space
  18. -> VGA graphics card
  19. -> MS-DOS 5.0 or higher

  28. Question: Can I run Alien Rampage on a Win95 system?
  29.  
  30. On most systems, you can run Alien Rampage directly under the control 
  31. of Win95; however, Alien Rampage is a DOS game, and for the best
  32. performance, you should run it while in its native DOS mode.
  33. To accomplish this in Win95, you could:
  34.  
  35. a) Choose "Shutdown" and "Restart" in MS-DOS mode
  36. b) Press F8 while booting and choose "Command prompt only"
  37. c) Create an Icon in Win95 to accomplish this task automatically

  39. Question: How do I create a Win95 Shortcut icon for Alien Rampage?
  40.  
  41. Step 1:
  42.    a) Double click the Explorer icon.
  43.    b) Select the directory where Alien Rampage is located.
  44.    c) Move the pointer over "Rampage.exe" and then while holding down the
  45.       left mouse button, drag the selected file to the desktop or anywhere
  46.       else you wish to create an icon.
  47.    d) Release the mouse button and the Rampage icon should appear.

  49. step 2:
  50. This step may be omitted, but, if you experience problems executing
  51. Alien Rampage under Win95 or want better performance, you should do
  52. the following:
  53.    a) Move the pointer over the newly-created Shortcut icon for Alien Rampage.
  54.    b) Click the right mouse button.
  55.    c) Select the "Properties" menu item.
  56.    d) Select the  "Program" tab located near the top of the window.
  57.    e) Select the "Advanced" gadget located near the bottom.
  58.    f) Check the box with the following line "MS-DOS Mode".

  63. Question: What if I get an "out of memory" error when running the game?
  64.  
  65. You need 6.5MB free memory to run the game.  This requires that you have
  66. at least 8 megabytes RAM.  If this error occurs, you will need to free up
  67. memory used by other programs currently running. Most likely, smartdrv.exe or
  68. a similar disk caching program is consuming megabytes.  Reducing the
  69. memory consumed by the disk caching program or eliminating the caching
  70. program all together will solve the memory problem in most cases.

  72. To free memory used by smartdrv.exe you must edit your autoexec.bat file
  73. and include a parameter similar the following:

  76.  
  77. Reboot your computer and run the game.
  78.  
  79. ----------------------------------------------------------
  80. Problem: I hear no sounds during the game
  81. Problem: After configuring Alien Rampage sound, I get an invalid or
  82.          conflicting IRQ.
  83.  
  84. In most cases, sound related problems will cause only your sound card not to
  85. play during the game. In addition, it is likely you have received an error
  86. such as "invalid or conflicting IRQ" during configuration.  However, in a few
  87. instances, a system crash is possible.
  88.  
  89. What do you do if this occurs?
  90.  
  91. Step 1:
  92.    a)  Select "CONFIG" in the main menu option
  93.    b)  Select "SOUND"
  94.    c)  Choose your sound card.  Most likely, it will be Sound Blaster.
  95.    d)  It will ask you if you wish to use the current settings.  The current
  96.        settings are derived from your Blaster environment variables in the
  97.        autoexec.bat file.  In most cases, you will select "yes".  However, if
  98.        the current settings do not work, experiment with different IRQ
  99.        settings.  If your initial IRQ setting was 7, try 5.

  102. Problem: My game crashes when starting.
  103.  
  104. Probably there is a problem with sound initialization.  Make sure you have
  105. at least 6.5 megs of free RAM.  If so, delete Rampage.cfg, run the game, and
  106. then reconfigure your sound card.  If the problem persists, experiement with
  107. different IRQ settings.

  110. Question: My game runs slow.  What can I do?
  111.  
  112.   a) Reduce detail level to medium or low.
  113.   b) Reduce the number of sound channels.
  114.   c) Use smartdrv or a similar disk caching program.

  117. GAME PUZZLES 
  118. ----------------------------------------------------------
  119. Question: In the first level, I find myself stuck in a prison cell and can't
  120. escape.  What should I do?
  121.  
  122. Kneel and shoot the flashing force field generator. The newly-freed Moorg
  123. will then expedite your escape.

  126. Question: Who are the Moorgs?
  127.  
  128. They are natives of this world, and will help you if you help them.
  129. They will toss you a few coins or help you defeat certain puzzles when
  130. you free them from Scavengers.

  133. Question: In the first level, I reach a dead end.  A Moorg appears to follow
  134. me.  Why?
  135.  
  136.    a) Lead the Moorg to the nearby lift.
  137.    b) Ride it to the first stop.
  138.    c) Lead the Moorg to the right until he bends over.
  139.    d) Hop on his back and you will gain access to the area above.

  142. Problem: Load game appears not to work.
  143.  
  144. You must first save a game to utilize this option.  You will be given an
  145. opportunity to save a game once you have completed a level.

  148. Problem: My game isn't saved when I kneel by a Mark Post.
  149.  
  150. Mark Posts temporarily mark your position during a level.  If you die,
  151. you will be resurrected near the last Mark Post that you knelt by.
