  18. Operating Systems Supported
  19. To be able to run the Escape from Monkey Island demo, you must have Windows
  20. 95 or 98 as your operating system and your computer hardware must be DirectX 7.0a
  21. compatible. MS-DOS, Windows 3.1x, Windows NT 3.x, Windows 2000, Windows
  22. NT 4.0, Linux and OS/2 are not supported.

  26. Computer:    100% DirectX compatible computer required.

  28. CPU:    Pentium class 200 MHz or faster CPU required.
  29.     Pentium II class 233 MHz or faster recommended.

  80. If Launcher Screen is Too Large for Screen
  81. If your font size is set to "Large Fonts", the launcher will appear to be twice as large
  82. as it should be and you may not be able to see all of the launcher buttons. We suggest
  83. you set your fonts to "Small" to see the entire launcher.  To do so:
  84.  
  85. ?    Right-click on your desktop
  86. ?    Click on "Properties"
  87. ?    Click on the "Settings" tab
  88. ?    Click on the box under "Font size" near the bottom
  89. ?    Click on "Small Fonts"

  92. Desktop Color Palette
  93. We recommend that you set your desktop to High Color (16 bit) color.  When
  94. Playing Escape from Monkey Island with your desktop set to a color palette
  95. other than 16 bit, you may experience various problems while running the game.

  97. Task Switching
  98. We recommend that you do not task switch while playing the Escape from
  99. Monkey Island demo.

  102. We recommend that you do not use CTRL-ESC while playing the demo.

  106. Installing the Escape from Monkey Island Demo
  107. Insert the Escape from Monkey Island Demo into your CD-ROM drive. The launcher
  108. screen will open automatically unless Autoplay is disabled. If it does not, double-click
  109. on the My Computer icon, then the CD-ROM icon. This should bring up the launcher
  110. menu. If it does not, double-click on MnkyDemo.exe in the window that opens. Click on
  111. the top button from the following options and the installer will guide you through the
  112. installation process.

  131. To run the demo, click on your Start Menu, select Programs, then LucasArts,
  132. then Monkey4 Demo and click on Play Monkey4 Demo. This will bring up
  133. the Launcher screen.

  151. Before choosing OpenGL or Direct3D, we recommend that you check the list of currently
  152. supported OpenGL and D3D chipsets in the demo readme, which is accessible through
  153. theHelp menu on the launcher.

  155. NOTE: Please check the documentation for the video driver you are using to ensure that
  156. your card has OpenGL support before selecting this option.

  158. Playing Demo directly from the CD
  159. Although it is possible to run the executable directly off of the CD, we recommend
  160. that you use the shortcuts the installer creates in the Start Menu or the shortcut to 
  161. the Monkey4 Demo which is created on the desktop during installation. Running 
  162. the executable directly from the CD may cause the game to run much more slowly
  163. and hit the CD much harder.
