  4. This is the Read Me file for the 3D Blaster PCI Windows 95/98 
  5. driver update.  This file contains information on how to replace 
  6. the 3D Blaster PCI drivers currently used by your system with 
  7. the latest version (v3.06).
  8.  
  9. Note that this set of drivers include support for Windows 98.  
  10. However, it works only as a single primary adaptor in Windows 98.
  11.  
  12. This file contains the following sections:
  13.  
  14.    I.  How to install the latest set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers
  15.        for Windows 95 (both retail and OSR2 versions)
  16.   II.  How to install the latest set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers
  17.        for Windows 98

  23. I. How to install the latest set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers for 
  24.    -----------------------------------------------------------
  25.    Windows 95 (both retail and OSR2 versions)
  26.    -------------------------------------------

  28.    To install this set of drivers for the 3D Blaster PCI, follow 
  29.    the steps listed below:
  30.  
  31.     1.    Create a new directory (for example, C:\NEWDRV) on your hard 
  32.         disk.
  33.  
  34.     2.    Copy the new set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers to this directory.
  35.  
  36.     3.    Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click 
  37.         Control Panel.
  38.  
  39.     4.    In the Control Panel window, double-click the Display icon.
  40.         The Display Properties dialog box appears.
  41.  
  42.     5.    Click the Settings tab.
  43.  
  44.     6.  Click the Change Display Type button or the Advanced
  45.         Properties button. The Change Display Type dialog box or
  46.         the Advanced Display Properties dialog box appears. The
  47.         name '3D Blaster PCI' is displayed in the Adapter Type box.

  49.     7.    Click the Change button next to '3D Blaster PCI'.
  50.         The Select Device dialog box appears.
  51.  
  52.     8.    Click the Have Disk button.
  53.  
  54.     9.  In the Install From Disk dialog box, type the directory
  55.         path where the new 3D Blaster PCI drivers are found
  56.         (eg, C:\NEWDRV) and click the OK button.
  57.         A new Select Device dialog box appears.
  58.  
  59.    10.  Make sure that the '3D Blaster PCI' entry is selected in
  60.         the Models list box and click the OK button. The new
  61.         3D Blaster PCI drivers are copied to your system.
  62.  
  63.    11.  Click the Close button to close the Change Display Type
  64.         dialog box or the Advanced Display Properties dialog box.

  66.    12.  Click the Close button to close the Display Properties
  67.         dialog box.

  69.    13.    When prompted to restart the system, click the Yes button. 
  70.         After your system restarts, the new 3D Blaster PCI
  71.         Windows 95 drivers will take effect.

  74. 2. How to install the latest set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers for 
  75.    -----------------------------------------------------------

  79.    To install the new set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers on your 
  80.    system if you are using Windows 98, follows the steps below:

  82.     1.  Create a new directory (for example, C:\NEWDRV) on your
  83.         hard disk.

  85.     2.  Copy the new set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers to this
  86.         directory.

  88.     3.    Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click

  103.         The Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box appears.

  107.    10.    Select the option 'Display a list of all the drivers in a 
  108.         specific location, so you can select the driver you want'.

  110.    11.  Click the Next button.

  112.    12.  Click the Have Disk button.

  114.    13.  In the dialog box, type the directory path to where the
  115.         new 3D Blaster PCI drivers are found (eg, C:\NEWDRV)
  116.         and click the OK button.
  117.         A new Select Device dialog box appears.

  119.    14.  Make sure that the 3D Blaster PCI entry is selected and 
  120.         click the OK button. The new 3D Blaster PCI drivers are
  121.         copied to your system.

  123.    15.    Click the Finish button.

  125.    16.  Click the Close button to close the Advanced Display
  126.         Properties dialog box.

  128.    17.  Click the Close button to close the Display Properties
  129.         dialog box.

  131.    18.    When prompted to restart the system, click the Yes button.
  132.         After your PC restarts, the new 3D Blaster PCI Windows 98
  133.         drivers will take effect.

  147.        * Use the optimal refresh rate of the selected monitor
  148.          type when running full screen DirectX games
  149.        * Netscape missing text bug solved
  150.        * Screen corruption when switching from full scrren dos

  154. 4. Known Problems
  155.    --------------

  157.        * Animated cursor may cause system lockup.  Turn off the 
  158.          animated cursor feature to avoid this problem.
  159.        * Problem in MPEG video playback for 32bpp.  Switch to 
  160.          16bpp for MPEG video playback.
  161.        * No multi-monitor support on Windows 98.
