- This driver should be used for test purposes only!
-
- This document explains how to install network drivers for the
- TokenExpress PRO on a Microsoft* Windows* 95 workstation.
-
- DRIVER LOCATION
- ================
-
- \TPRO.VXD
- \NETTPRO.INF
-
-
- BEFORE YOU START
- ================
- You must configure and test the TokenExpress PRO adapter with TOKENSET.EXE
- before adding the adapter to Network Setup in Windows 95. Boot the
- workstation with a DOS disk, and then insert the TokenExpress PRO LAN Adapter
- Configuration disk into drive A. At the DOS prompt type:
-
- A:TOKENSET
-
- 1. Select "AUTOMATIC SETUP" to let TokenSet configure the TokenExpress PRO
- adapter to work in your computer, or select "CHANGE ADAPTER CONFIGURATION"
- if you want to designate which interrupt and I/O address you want the
- TokenExpress PRO to use.
-
- 2. Select "TEST ADAPTER" from the main menu to test the configuration you
- have selected. If the TokenExpress PRO adapter fails diagnostics, it may
- not function correctly under Windows 95.
-
- NOTE: TokenSet is a DOS program and will not run in Windows 95. You must
- run TokenSet from DOS. If you already have Windows 95 installed on your
- computer, You can boot to DOS by inserting a DOS boot disk into your
- floppy disk drive A when rebooting, or you can select "RESTART THE
- COMPUTER IN MS-DOS MODE" when you shut down (choose Shut Down from the
- Start menu in Windows 95).

-
- TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS
- ====================
-
- INTEL TOKENEXPRESS PRO (0000) IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY
- ------------------------------------------------------------
- If Windows 95 fails to detect or initialize the TokenExpress PRO, you will
- get this error message when starting Windows 95:
-
- "Your network adapter Intel TokenExpress PRO (0000) is not
- working properly. You may need to set it up again. For more information,
- see the Network Troubleshooting in Windows help."
-
- Try these steps:
-
- 1. Verify that the I/O address and interrupt that you specified for the
- TokenExpress PRO is correct by running TOKENSET.EXE and selecting
- "View Configuration" from the menu. If the I/O address or interrupt
- is different from the value you specified when installing Windows 95,
- select "Change Adapter Configuration" from the TokenSet main menu
- and change the I/O address and interrupt to match the settings in
- Windows 95.
-
- 2. Verify that the I/O address and interrupt being used by the
- TokenExpress PRO adapter are not being used by any other device in your
- workstation, including a sound card, faxmodem, scanner, tape backup,
- serial port, or parallel port.
-
- Look at the documentation or setup programs for the other installed
- adapters in your computer to verify what I/O address and interrupts
- they are using. Some sound cards use multiple interrupts and I/O
- addresses. For example, a typical sound card will use an I/O address
- of 220 and IRQ 5 for the sound port and an I/O address of 330 and
- IRQ 11 for the MIDI/Joystick port.
-
- 3. Verify that the TokenExpress PRO passes all diagnostic tests by running
- TOKENSET.EXE from DOS and selecting "Run Diagnostics". If the
- TokenExpress PRO fails diagnostics it will not function correctly under
- Windows 95.
-
- If On-Board diagnostics fail, try setting the adapter to use a
- different I/O address, specify a different interrupt, or set the
- Force 8-bit option to "Yes".
-
-
-
- ADAPTER PASSES DIAGNOSTICS BUT STILL DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS 95
- ------------------------------------------------------------------
- If the adapter passes diagnostics but still does not work with Windows 95,
- there could be a problem with the network setup configuration. If you've
- made several attempts to configure the network setup for Windows 95 or had
- another adapter installed before the TokenExpress PRO adapter, it may be
- necessary to restore the Windows 95 network configuration to default
- settings and then reconfigure the Windows 95 network setup. Here's how:
-
- 1. Open the "My Computer" icon.
-
- 2. Open the "Control Panel" icon from the My Computer window.
-
- 3. Open the "Network" icon from the Control Panel window.
-
- 4. Select the "Intel TokenExpress PRO" from the Network Components
- list, and click "Remove". This removes the adapter and all associated
- components from the Windows 95 network configuration.
-
- 5. From the Network Configuration window, click "OK".
-
- 6. When Windows 95 finishes copying files and updating the network
- configuration, you will be prompted to restart your computer for the
- changes to take effect, click "Yes".
-
- 7. After the workstation reboots, continue at step 1 of the GENERAL
- INSTALLATION section of this document.
