The Tools Menu items provide access to all of the MIDI control panel types in the program. These panel type items have a checked/unchecked state. When selected a panel type item will become checked and cause all panels of its type to become visible. If no panels of this type are open, a new one will be created with default controller values. When pressed again the menu item will become unchecked and cause all panels of its type to be hidden (they remain active, roll across a Hide Button, the red hand, for details).
After at least one panel of the given type is open you cannot create any new panels with the panel type item. It will only hide and show the open panel. To create more than one of a given panel type, you must use one of the last two entries on the Tools menu. See the 'New Panel' and 'Clone Panel' menu items, below.
If you don't have a joystick connected the Joystick Control item will be greyed out. Since the program only checks for a joystick on start up you will have to exit, install (and possibly calibrate) a joystick, then restart the program to get access to a joystick panel.
The Panl Pointer item will also be greyed out unless conditions are right. In this case, you have to have at least one control on one panel remotely controlling another panel. When this condition occurs the Panl Pointer item will be available. You should thoroughly understand panel remote controls (see Button, Fader and Controller Type help) before trying to use a Panl Pointer panel.
The New Panel menu item appears near the bottom of the Tools menu. As the name implies this item creates a new panel of the type of the currently active (hilighted) panel. All controls will be set to their default values. The actual name for this menu item will be 'New' plus the panel type of the current active (hilighted) control panel. If no control panels are visible (or a joystick control panel is active and you only have one joystick) the New Panel item will be greyed out.
The Clone Panel menu item appears at the bottom of the Tools menu. As the name implies this item makes an exact duplicate of the currently active (hilighted) panel. Ony the panel's name and panel pointer (which must be unique) are changed. The actual name for this menu item will be 'Clone' plus the panel type of the current active (hilighted) control panel. If no control panels are visible (or a joystick control panel is active and you only have one joystick) the Clone Panel item will be greyed out.
