The nightclock option enables you to use your device as a convenient night-time clock. To use the nightclock tick the "use nightclock" option on the Nightclock panel in the Settings dialogue on the Preferences menu.
The nightclock dialogue panel enables you to restrict this function between any two times of your choice.
When in nightclock mode SwitchOn Pro displays a large clock together with the backlight when your device is switched on. There is an option in the settings dialogue to display the SwitchOn Pro picture in the background or not.
In nightclock mode all sounds are switched off. SwitchOn Prol automatically turns the system off instead of switching to background after the usual delay period. By pressing the spacebar the delay can be over-ridden.
There is also an option in the nightclock dialogue to switch off the system by tapping the screen.

BThere are three battery indicators in the status window:
Main battery, Back-up battery and Power source
The main battery icon shows the state of the main battery and where applicable the back-up battery icon shows the status of the backup battery. Both indicate the charge level of the battery from full to empty. The figures under each battery measure the battery charge level.
The power source icon shows whether external power is present or if the system is running on the main battery.
You can adjust the values used to indicate the battery charge levels by selecting the Battery panel on the Settings dialogue in the Preferences menu.

You can customise some general SwitchOn Pro features through the General panel in the Settings dialogue on the Preferences menu.
You can change the refresh rate used when SwitchOn Pro is running in the foreground and background. This tells SwitchOn Pro how often it should redraw the screen and check for alterations (e.g. changes in battery and memory usage). The less frequent the refresh rate (i.e. a higher input value) the lower the battery consumption. If you select to refresh frequently (i.e. under one second), consumption will grow heavily.
Other options allow you to select the display posi
tion of the status window, the predefined hotkey (the default is Ctrl-q) to any key of your choice and change or switch off the silkscreen hotkey used to switch to SwitchOn Pro (the default is the System button).

You can set whether SwitchOn Pro is in the foreground at switchon and if so, the the period of time that SwitchOn Pro should stay in the foreground before automatically switching to the background. Inputting zero disables the switch to background feature. In this case SwitchOn Pro will stay in the foreground until a key, or the screen outside of the active window, has been pressed.
In addition, you can set the volume of the startup sound played by SwitchOn Pro.

Switching to an open task can be done with a penclick on the appropriate icon or by pressing the TAB key until your desired application is mentioned and then followed by a RETURN to switch to that application.
The Taskbuttons dialogue on the Preferences menu allows you to filter which programmes are displayed in the task bar by selecting the Hide Apps. button. The dialogue also contains four panels which are detailed below:
1) Position panel:
Enables you to to set the task bar to display horizontally, vertically or to switch the bar off via the show task buttons option.
The X and Y offset fields allow you to specify the distance to display task bar from the top left of the screen.
The height and width of the task buttons can all be adjusted in this dialogue.
2) Font panel:
Lets you select how text appears in the task buttons. By selecting the Icons only option in the Select font input, the task bar will only display the appropriate icon for open programmes.
3) Advanced panel:
The first check box allows to select whether to display document names in place of application names on the task bar buttons.
The second option, delete temporary files at exit, lets you decide whether SwitchOn Pro deletes temporary files when closed. It is recommended that you leave this box unchecked otherwise SwitchOn Pro will scan for new icons each time it is launched, resulting in a slight delay.
The third option lets you select how programme icons in the task buttons are displayed. On slower machines it is recommended not to display the programme icons whilst on fast machineslike the Psion 5mx icons with masks can be displayed.
4) Icons panel:
On the icons panel you can select the size of the icons to be displayed. By changing the current size, an automatic rescan will be launched and may take several seconds.
You can also manually update SwitchOn Pro's store of application icons at any time by selecting the Update icons button. This should be used when you have installed new software since last ran.
