  4.           Buy a good phone line surge protector to protect your
  5.           modem. Some computer surge protectors provide a special
  6.           modular jack to protect your phone line as well as your
  7.           electrical line.

  9.           If you live in an area that has frequent lightning
  10.           storms, it is best to unplug all your equipment when you
  11.           are not using it. For example, I live in Florida. The
  12.           summers in Florida have lightning storms often in the
  13.           afternoons. In the summer, when I am not using the
  14.           computer, I unplug everything. Even with good power surge
  15.           protection, it is wise to unplug all your computer
  16.           equipment in a lightning storm. Be sure to unplug both
  17.           the electrical cord and the phone wire where it plugs
  18.           into the wall.
