- About Elemental:
- -----------------
- The Elemental demo is a "shareware system" and is provided at no
- charge to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your
- friends/colleagues, but please do not give it away altered or as part
- of another system. The essence of "user-supported" software is to
- provide personal computer users with quality software without
- high prices while still providing incentive for programmers to
- continue development of new products. To obtain your own copy of
- Elemental - the Periodic Table for Scientists and Students, please
- enclose $49.95 plus $2.50 S&H {US funds} with the order form and
- return it to CleoSci. The order form can be printed by entering
-
- "TYPE ORDER.FRM>PRN {return}"
-
- on your computer. You may also print the order form (ORDER.FRM) from
- the README file viewing program.

-
-
-
- The address to which to send your order is:
-
- CleoSci
- Attn: Elemental
- P.O. Box 17037
- St. Paul, MN 55117
-
- The $49.95 registration fee will license one copy for use on any one
- computer at any one time. You must treat this software just like
- a book. An example is that this software may be used by any
- number of people and may be freely moved from one computer
- location to another so long as there is no possibility of its
- being used at one location while it is being used at another.
- This is just as a book cannot be read by two different persons
- at the same time.
-
- For more information, see the supporting file REGISTER.DOC.
-
-
-
-
- The Elemental System:
- ------------------------------
-
- Elemental was written for use on IBM-PC family/100% compatible systems.
- It is suggested that the user have at least 640K of RAM and MS-DOS
- version 3.0 or newer.
-
- Elemental is a computer periodic table program which operates in a
- graphical user interface (GUI). It uses VGA graphics; XMM, EMM, or
- disk swapping for memory management; and a mouse or keyboard.
-
- IBM-PC is a trademark of International Business Machines, INC.
- MS-DOS is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation.

-
- LAST MINUTE INFORMATION:
- ------------------------
- If you do any printing of the support files from the README.EXE view
- program, be sure that your printer has enough paper. There are over
- twenty pages in all.
-
- In addition, if print/program execution gets stuck in mid-sentence
- because you run out of paper or turn your printer off-line, you will
- need to replenish the paper or go back on-line to either finish the job
- or escape.
-
- This is actually not a programming error! For some reason, MS-DOS and
- the ROM BIOS do not have good "error-catching" features when printing
- is stopped mid-sentence. This feature has been tested extensively on
- MANY programs (including products from large, well-known retail
- companies). The result is always the same. Your computer hits a state
- of "suspended animation".
-
- README.DOC Page 2 of 3
-
-
-
- Why does this occur? That's a good question! It may be related to the
- significant time difference between the computer's processing speed and
- the speed at which the printer can receive and print data. It takes
- time for the printer to notice that it is out of paper (or off-line) and
- to relay that information to the computer. Meanwhile, the computer is
- still sending data. Where does this data go? It probably visits the
- twilight zone until you correct the problem.
-
- In any case, don't worry. Just keep plenty of paper on hand for print
- jobs, and there should be no problem!

-
-
- CleoSci hopes you enjoy using the Elemental program. If you see ways
- the program can be improved, feel free to drop us a line. Good luck,
- good research, and enjoy it!
