  34. logs weren't kept.  If they had been, you probably wouldn't see this released
  35. for a few more months, so...

  171. Slackware 2.0.2 is released.  New features include the 1.1.54 kernel, XFree86
  172. 3.1, and XView3.2p1-X11R6.  I've recompiled all the X applications I could to
  173. use the new shared libaries from XFree86 3.1.  About the only thing that wasn't
  174. recompiled was Interviews 3.1... if anyone has any luck with that, please let
  175. me know.

  177. The old libraries from XFree86 2.1.1 are retained for backwards compatibility.
  178.  
  179. BTW, some people have run into trouble with the floppy drivers
  180. in this new kernel.  I was one of them, actually, but solved my problem
  181. by switching to a different controller.  You might want to hang on to
  182. your old kernel just in case.  If you do run into trouble with the
  183. floppies, please be patient.  Some new alpha floppy patches were just
  184. released this morning, so something _is_ being done.

  537. drivers in more recent kernels. I'm sure this will get worked out in the not
  538. too distant future, though.

  541. changes made that, once again, it wasn't really practical for me to waste any

  1209. This is the promised big upgrade that fixes most of the reported problems
  1210. with the new version of Slackware. Note that there is no longer a color12
  1211. disk - there wasn't enough room. I may eliminate some of the features and
  1212. bring it back in the future. For instance, it would be easy to make a color12
  1213. without international keyboard support. (I know that wouldn't make everyone
  1214. happy, but...) Another option is to make some more bootdisks that allow you
  1215. to boot a 3.5" disk in the second floppy drive. Again, not everyone has a 
  1216. 1.44MB drive. But, rest assured that I'll do what I can.
  1217.  
  1218. Anyway, these are the files that comprise the latest upgrade. If you downloaded
  1219. soon after the initial 1.1.2 release, you should check the filesizes of your 
  1220. other disks as well and upgrade anything that needs it. (Including the disk??
  1221. maketag, and other seemingly insignificant files)
  1222.  
  1223. NEW FEATURE: Support for the UMSDOS filesystem. That's right - if you have 8
  1224. megabytes or more of RAM, you can try Linux out on your DOS partition with
  1225. *no repartitioning required*! You can install anything from a 12 megabyte
  1226. minimal system to the full 140+ megabyte release. You can also make swapfiles
  1227. on the UMSDOS partition once the system is running.
  1228.  
  1229. I hope this will be a stable release. I've given it about 2 days testing, and
  1230. it seems greatly improved, especially the new networking utilities. My thanks
