  17. This file describes ancillary information, bug fixes, and enhancements that
  18. do not appear in other FTP Software documentation.
  19.  
  20. To successfully run Reference Desk, the PC/TCP online documentation system,
  21. we recommend the following system configurations.
  22.  
  23. Hardware Requirements
  24. ---------------------
  25.     - An 80386SX 16MHz processor
  26.     - 10 MB hard-disk space if you install all titles on your PC 
  27.     - At least 2MB RAM
  28.         - Microsoft compatible mouse
  29.     - 4-bit VGA graphics adapter with color VGA monitor
  30.         - Optional. MPC-compatible CD ROM
  31.  
  32. Software Requirements
  33. ---------------------
  34.     - Microsoft Windows version 3.1 or later (enhanced mode)
  35.     - MS DOS version 3.30 or later

  38. System Fonts
  39. ------------
  40. Reference Desk online books use three Windows True Type fonts:
  41.  
  42.     - Arial (Normal, Bold, Italic, and Bold Italic)
  43.     - Courier New (Normal, Bold, Italic, and Bold Italic)
  44.     - Times New Roman (Normal, Bold, Italic, and Bold Italic)
  45.  
  46. By default, these fonts reside in the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory with the 
  47. file extension .FOT.
  48.  
  49. If one or more of these fonts are missing from your system, install them 
  50. from the Microsoft Windows 3.1 distribution media using the Fonts dialog 
  51. in the Control Panel. Consult the Microsoft Windows documentation and/or 
  52. the Control Panel's online helpfor specific instructions.
  53.  
  54. If you choose not to install the necessary fonts, Windows substitutes
  55. available fonts. While Reference Desk does run without the correct fonts, 
  56. the appearance of the online books may be unsatisfactory.
  57.  
  58. Search Feature
  59. --------------
  60. The MicroSoft Multimedia Viewer search capability operates on one book at
  61. a time. It does not search across multiple titles.  Similarly, the 
  62. Index feature lists words from the index of the current book only.
  63. Select and open a book before you use Search or Index.
  64.
