- PROGRAM LONG DESCRIPTION:
- Not only does FileWrangler ZIP and UNZIP
- files, it can handle all of your other file
- management tasks as well. It copies, moves,
- renames, deletes, etc. FileWrangler lets
- you view the contents of files while you
- browse through the folders on your system.
- It can view many image formats, play AVI's
- and WAV's, view text or even hexadecimal.
- On-board text editing is ideal for composing
- notes, creating html, or editing system
- configuration files.
-
- FileWrangler's ZIP features make archiving
- files as easy as dragging and dropping files
- to and from file folders. Plus, you can also
- view zip contents, span zipped files across
- multiple disks, make self-extracting EXE zips,
- require passwords to unzip, etc.
-
- FileWrangler also gives you security
- options to hide file types, folders and
- drives from file manager users, as well as
- to prevent access to various file management
- functions. There are also options to Wipe
- files on delete, encrypt/decrypt files, etc.
-
- Other features include: a paint program for
- creating or editing images, a backup function
- to allow you to easily maintain copies of
- important files, a file splitter which allows
- you to break large files or groups of files
- to fit onto multiple disks (may also be used
- to create installation-type programs), a patch
- file maker, an FTP client to allow you to
- upload or download files to internet sites, and
- many more enhancements.
-
- FileWrangler allows you to open several file
- lists at once, and you can view files in

- document file drawers, which allow you to
- only view file types that you actually need
- to see.

- INSTALLING FileWrangler
- ------------------------------
-
- Before you can begin using FileWrangler you must run its
- Setup program from Windows. In most cases you cannot simply copy
- the software onto your hard drive. The files on the CursorArts
- distribution disks are stored in a special compressed form to
- save space. The Setup program is the only way to insure that
- FileWrangler is properly unpacked and installed. To install
- FileWrangler, follow the steps below:
-
- 1. Start Windows.
-
- 2. If you received FileWrangler on diskette, place it into
- the floppy drive now. If you downloaded FileWrangler in
- archived format, use PKUNZIP to uncompress the files to a
- working directory on your hard disk.
-
- 3. Activate the Windows Program Manager or Explorer.
-
- 4. Select "Run..." from the "Start" menu.
-
- 5. In the "Command Line" field enter one of the following:
-
- - If you placed the FileWrangler diskette into drive
- A:, type: A:\SETUP
-
- - If you placed the FileWrangler diskette into drive
- B:, type: B:\SETUP
-
- - If you downloaded FileWrangler, type:
- C:\DIRNAME\SETUP (Remember to replace DIRNAME with the name
- of the directory where you uncompressed FileWrangler's files.)
-
- 6. Follow the instructions on the screen.
-
-
- ----------------------------------------
- UNINSTALLING / REMOVING FROM YOUR SYSTEM
- ----------------------------------------
- If you decide that you no longer wish to use FileWrangler, or if you
- decide not to use FileWrangler beyond the 30-day evaluation period,
- you need only to use the UNINSTAL.EXE program placed in FileWrangler's
- directory folder to remove its files from your system (or use the
- Windows 95 ADD/REMOVE feature of its Control Panel).
-
- To remove any shortcuts to FileWrangler which you may have placed on
- your Windows desktop, simply delete these by highlighting the link
- icon and pressing your Delete key. To remove shortcuts on the
- Windows Start menu, use your file manager to delete the FILEWRANGLER
- directory folder which is normally located inside the
- \WINDOWS\START MENU\PROGRAMS folder.
