  77. The following has been condensed from the on-line help and is intended
  78. for experienced computer users.  The on-line help gives a more in depth
  79. description so if you are not sure and require more information then
  80. refer to the on-line help.

  82. 1. INSTALLATION
  83.  
  84. Hardware requirements
  85. Minimum requirements is a 486 computer, VGA monitor, 16 megs of extended
  86. memory. Recommended requirements: 486+ computer, VGA monitor, 16 megs
  87. extended memory.
  88.  
  89. Installing shareware version.
  90. It is assumed that you have unpacked the file SAGT210.ZIP to the C:\TEMP
  91. directory and that you have unzipped the SAGT210.ZIP file and you have
  92. this README.1ST file. Now do the following instructions.
  93.  
  94. 1. Click on Setup.exe to install the program. Follow the prompts on
  95. the screen.
  96.  
  97. 2. You will need to set up Shareware and Graphics Tracker before you can
  98. use it. There is a number of things you need to do before running
  99. Shareware and Graphics Tracker. Just follow the instructions listed
  100. below.
  101.  
  102. SETTING UP Shareware and Graphics Tracker
  103. The following should be done BEFORE you start Shareware and Graphics
  104. Tracker. If you start Shareware Tracker before you do all of the
  105. following steps, you will have to back out again to complete these steps.
  106.  
  107. 1. You will need to get a list of your Internet sites. The easiest way is
  108. first grab a piece of paper and divide it into two columns. Now start up
  109. your favourite browser off-line.  If you are Netscape then click on
  110. Bookmarks, else if you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer then click
  111. on Favourites. You will probably have a number of sites listed where you
  112. from which you download shareware from. Go to the first one. Write down
  113. the title in the first column of the pad, now click on that choice. You
  114. will receive a notice saying that the program was unable to access that
  115. site. Write down the WWW address given in the notice. Repeat these steps
  116. for all the shareware sites listed. If you are still using any BBS's then
  117. list these also.
  118.  
  119. 2. When you have all your Internet listings then have a look at
  120. them and decide what categories these sources should be under. You can
  121. always change or add to the categories later but at least you should have
  122. a basic list. As most shareware downloads cover a wide range of topics,
  123. you should include the category UNKNOWN in the source category list.
  124. Also include "Unknown Source" in the source list. This will be handy when
  125. you enter previous downloads and you don't know where the download came
  126. from.

  128. 3. If your shareware is stored on a hard drive then go to section 4.  If
  129. your shareware is stored on removable disks then you will need to number
  130. each removable disk.
  131.  
  132. This is important because if you don't number the disks now then you will
  133. not know which disk to place in the drive when Shareware and Graphics
  134. Tracker asks for a particular disk. When you have labelled all the disks
  135. make sure that they in correct order with number one disk on the top.
  136.  
  137. 4.The first time you run Shareware and Graphics Tracker, you will be
  138. asked to set the drive the removable disk will use, the drive/directory
  139. where the large files are stored on the hard drive and if you have a
  140. CD-Rom then enter the CD-Rom drive. If you are using the shareware
  141. version then the shareware message will appear. After reading itclick the
  142. Continue button to remove it. The main database screen will appear. See
  143. THE MAIN DATA SCREEN  for a full description of this screen (including
  144. hidden fields).

  146. 5. Now click the mouse on Category | Shareware  . A list of default
  147. categories will appear. You can change these categories to suit your own
  148. needs. To add a category, enter the new category in the top box and then
  149. click on Add Category to add your first shareware  category. Repeat this
  150. step until all the shareware  categories have been entered.Click on the
  151. Close button. You must have at least one shareware  category before you
  152. can enter any shareware  details. You can add extra categories during
  153. Auto Entry. If you have previous shareware titles to enter then you
  154. should have the category "UNKNOWN". This is necessary because you will
  155. possibly come across a number of previous shareware titles for which you
  156. may not be able to immediately identify so you can use this category as a
  157. temporary measure until you get some time in the future to investigate
  158. these shareware titles in more detail (See also FIRST TIME DATA ENTRY).

  160. 6. Now at the main screen click on Category | Source .   A list of
  161. default categories will appear. You can change these categories to suit
  162. your own needs To add a source category, enter the new category in the
  163. top box and click on Add Category to add your first (BBS/Internet)
  164. category. Repeat this step until all the source categories have been
  165. entered. Now click on the Close button to back out.

  167. 7. You are now ready to enter your download details. See On-Line Help
  168. topic SETTING UP THE DOWNLOADS FOR AUTO ENTRY for full information on how
  169. to do this.

  171. NOTE: If you try and skip any of the above steps, then when you try to
  172. enter data, you will receive a error message like "No categories
  173. available, Enter at least one category".
