Transcription: The term red eye describes light from a flash striking the back of the eye and bouncing back to the camera. The light reflecting off the back of the eye is red, causing the subject's pupils to appear as red dots. Many cameras have a red eye reduction feature. An alternative for reducing red eye is to position your flash unit slightly to the side or above the camera.
