Transcription: A normal lens recreates the image on the focal plane in the proportion seen through the human eye. A change in the curvature of the lens can either spread out or tighten up the light falling on the focal plane. Spreading out the image increases its size on film and magnifies the image. Tightening up the image decreases its size on film.
