- SOLVING CASES
-
- Here's your chance to become a master detective without
- leaving your computer. All you need is ITTY BITTY
- MYSTERIES. Some will require you to name a thief, some
- will ask you to 'finger' the murderer. Each one will
- make you think a little. Playing is pretty easy.
- Winning, however, will require a bit of work on your
- part. You'll likely have fun, too.
-
- First, study the picture and try to imagine what's
- going on. If you are another Sherlock Holmes, you
- can try to solve the mystery immediately. Just press
- the question mark '?' key or click on the icon in the
- lower right of the screen. The rest of us will likely
- need a few clues. Move the mouse cursor around the
- screen. When you are on a clue, the arrow will change
- into a small magnifying glass. Click anywhere to read
- the background. Click on clues to read about them.
-
- If you don't have a mouse, you can use the numeric keys
- to look at the clues. Press '0' for the case background
- Then press number keys '1' through '9' to see all the
- clues in the case. Now you should be ready to press the
- question mark and win. If you want to look at any clue
- a second time, just select it again. In real life, a
- detective would have to solve these cases fast. Since
- you're still in training, get a pad and pencil, make a
- few notes, and take all the time you want.
-
- USING THE MOUSE
-
- If you are using a mouse, the cursor on the screen
- changes shape as you move. The arrow is used to select
- menu items and to read the case background. The small
- magnifying glass indicates that you are over a clue, and
- the '?' indicates that you are over the quiz area.
- The mouse can also be used to answer questions. Click
- anywhere on the line where your choice appears.
