- extimelay designs more than a layout for the presentation of timetables, it also
- tops mondays timetable and tails fridays. Extimelay does not change from year
- group to year group, nor indeed fom term to term. All the variable timetable
- data is in extime which incldes (\\+) extimelay to separate the yeargroups.

- However, within the text generated by extimelay, small modifications are needed.
- On the first call, the friday tail is not needed, hence \\u3 is set 0, so that
- the line .if \\u3 evaluates false. the first time \\u1 is entered, and the tail
- is not required.

- Essentially extimelay defines \\u1 which it exports to extime, so that extime
- can use the required tail, page break and head between each yeargroup.

- Within the text generated by \\u1, the group name must be put in as the right
- field of a .colled line. In extimelay this appears as \\u2, which is set as
- required in extime before applying \\u1.

- Since \\u2 varies on each use of \\u1, .setm rather than .setu is needed; .setu
- would bind in the value of \\u2 at definition time and the Timetable header
- would not be able to specify the different year groups.

- Note also that \\u1 generates a very long string, and u2, u3 and u4 are used as
- auxiliaries in order not to exceed the system limit of 255 characters.

- \\u10 is a switch that, if true (1) causes all yeargroups' timetables to be
- printed out; \\u11, \\u12 and \\u13 allow selected timetables only to be printed
- In fact extime is a transmutation of the first three yeargroups; in the
- production version there are many more.

- This version sets up an unused monday at the end; How to cut this out is left as
- an exercise to the reader.
