  6. The Great BlibII Release III  -  The Sequel  -  With a thousand elephants

  9. Release 3 of BlibII contains the following items :
  10.  
  11.   !BlibII    -  Basic Linking Application
  12.  
  13.   !TestApp   -  An example application (unlinked) which demonstrates some
  14.                 of the library procedures and functions.
  15.  
  16.   Blib       -  Directory 19 library files, containing over 200 procedures
  17.                 and functions.
  18.  
  19.   Docs       -  Documentation for BlibII
  20.  
  21.   Licences   -  End user licences for both the linker and supplied
  22.                 library files.
  23.  
  24. Please make sure you read the end user licences and the documentation BEFORE
  25. attempting to use the linker. Before linking you will need to install the
  26. supplied libraries, this is explained in the documentation.

  28. The main change noticeable since release 1 of BlibII is with the supplied
  29. library collection. This is now over twice the original size. This is in
  30. a large way due to the efforts of Tom Hughes who has supplied many new
  31. libraries (Draw, DrawWin, Font, Message, Sprite and Transfer) as well as
  32. several new functionality to existing libraries (in particular Wimp).

  34. The supplied libraries now offer a massive collection of Wimp based procedures
  35. and functions which will provide most of the interaction between your program
  36. and the Wimp.

  38. There is now a completely new Memory library (version 2.01) which is a
  39. complete rewrite, and now offers all the functionality of the first version,
  40. but with about 3 times the speed.

  42. Finally, several bugs have been fixed.

  45. Will it stop here?
  46. ------------------

  48. I certainly hope not. But the fastest way that the library can expand is
  49. with contributions from others. So if you have any procedures/functions/
  50. libraries you think will be useful to others (even if they are fairly
  51. specialised) why not send them in to me for inclusion in the next release
  52. of BlibII.

  54. If you make extensions/corrections to existing libraries it would be helpful
  55. if you only send those procedures/functions that you have changed.
