- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- ~ !WhatFile is a Public Domain application. This means that you may freely ~
- ~ distribute it on BBSs, ftp sites, PD libraries. I do not retain any ~
- ~ copyright over this program. You may modify this program, but PLEASE ~
- ~ don't send it back to me if after modification IT DON'T WORK!!!!! ~
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
- What it does
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~
- !WhatFile is an application which provides a useful way of identifying files
- dragged to its icon.
-
- How to use it
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- First, double-click on its icon in a Filer window. The !WhatFile icon will
- load onto the iconbar in standard fashion. At this stage, WhatFile doesn't
- do anything, but if you drag a file to it's icon, it will tell you what it
- is (hopefully).
-
- !WhatFile currently supports 140 filetypes. If you wish to add more to the
- ones currently supported, hold down SHIFT and double-click on !WhatFile.
-
- Load the file called "FileTypes" into a text editor of some sort, eg. Zap,
- Edit etc.. Move to the "alphabetical" position of your filetype, (so, for
- example if your type was &ABC, you would move to inbetween ABB and ABD) type
- in the filetype in UPPER CASE, followed by a colon, and then followed by a
- textual description of the type eg. Text, Sprite etc....

- Known bugs
- ~~~~~~~~~~
- There are no known bugs at the moment. I have tested it thoroughly. It
- should work on RISC OS 2, but you need to have a copy of the MessageTrans
- module loaded (built-in on RISC OS 3 and 3.5).
