  10.  This masterpiece of superb design and coding allows you to easily do all
  11. those things that the filer ( on RISC OS 2, anyway ) has forgotten. You can
  12. easily set filetypes, set the CSD, recursively access, destroy, and send to
  13. edit, all which previously had little PD programs written to do, simply by
  14. using a key and double-click - no silly icons to drag to, no silly setting
  15. options and opening directories. Plus there are some useful bits that have
  16. not been seen before in silly little PD programs. So, as well as being able
  17. to shift-double-click on applications to open them up rather than run them,
  18. we have the option of using alt-double-click. This gives a menu from which
  19. all features are available. Options from the menu can be quickly chosen with
  20. key short-cuts - for example, ctrl-double-click sets the CSD.

  24. Set CSD   ( Ctrl-double-click ) : If the object double-clicked on is a
  25.           directory, the CSD ( current selected directory ) is set to inside
  26.           that directory. If it is a file, the CSD is set to the directory
  27.           that contains it, ie. the directory whose filer window is open.
  28.           This is a quick way to allow you to access files more easily
  29.           outside the desktop environment.
  30. Destory   ( Esc-double-click ) : This deletes the object double-clicked on,
  31.           even if it is locked against deletion. If the object is a directory
  32.           then all objects in it are deleted, recursively. Therefore, you
  33.           must be careful with this feature !
  34. Info      ( Print-double-click ) : Opens a window showing various information
  35.           about the file or directory double-clicked on. There are also two
  36.           buttons. Pressing the grey "K" button enters the pathname of the
  37.           object, as if typed at the keyboard. Pressing the red "f1" button
  38.           to define function key f1 as the pathname. This feature prevents
  39.           you from having to muck about with the Filer's display menu, and
  40.           saves typing.
  41. Access    ( F11-double-click ) : Once the options have been set up, you can
  42.           recursively set the access flags of the files and directories
  43.           from the object double-clicked on. This can be used to get rid of
  44.           all those annoyingly locked files quickly.
  45. Devirus   ( F10-double-click ) : Searches the object double-clicked on for
  46.           the following viruses :
  47.           Extend : Hides in application directories. But not very well, as
  48.                    it goes about creating new files and is very obvious.
  49.           ModVir : Hides in modules. Very well. This is the only virus you
  50.                    should ever get, as the others are all so stupid and
  51.                    obvious to the eye. Look for nameless tasks, extra files
  52.                    appearing, *Run commands in !Boot files, etc.
  53.           Archie : Hides in application files. This version of Filer extras
  54.                    cannot remove it, as I have no version to have a look at.
  55.                    But it can be detected, and any proper virus program
  56.                    should be able to get rid of it.
  57. SetType   ( F1-double-click ) : Input the new file type in hex or text at the
  58.           bottom and click OK to set the filetype. Clicking on Auto will
  59.           attempt to find out from the contents of the file, what the type
  60.           of the file should actually be. Filetypes currently recognised are:
  61.           &DDC, &AF1, &400, &FF6, &695, &5A9, &D0B, &CB5, &CB6, &C56, &810,
  62.           &400, &7FF, &FED, &FF7, &FFB, &FFA, &FEC, &FFF.
  63. Various   ( Shift-double-click ) : BASIC files shift-double-clicked on are
  64.           loaded into BASIC for you to have a look at. Sprite files are
  65.           *IconSprited, to update the Wimp's sprites after you have done
  66.           some new sprites, or something like that. Any other files are sent
  67.           to Edit, or any other text editor you might have.
  68. Quit      Kills Filextras. If you hold down shift and quit the task from the
  69.           task manager window, then FileCore will be reset, so the annoying
  70.           "FileCore in use" error stops.

  75. this would seem to be an unsolvable problem ), for helpful suggestions, or
