  3. This is a multi-document multi-tasking program to delete !Boot files.
  4.  
  5. It is FREEWARE - ie you pay nothing to use it and in return the author
  6. happily offers NO WARRANTY.  Use this program at your own risk.

  10. What is a !Boot file?
  11.  
  12. A !Boot file resides inside an application directory.  When you first `see'
  13. an application the filer will run any !Boot file inside it.

  17. Why delete the !Boot file?
  18.  
  19. Because usually all a !Boot file contains is the following line:
  20.         IconSprites <Obey$Dir>.!Boot
  21. and in this case the !Boot file is unnecessary - the filer automatically
  22. performs this command if the !Boot file doesn't exist.
  23.  
  24. So if the !Boot file is deleted, then the filer hasn't got to load it in,
  25. and this saves quite a bit of TIME. Who likes waiting around?

  29. What constitutes a !Boot file?
  30.  
  31. For the purposes of this program the following things must be satisfied before
  32. a file is deemed to be eligible for deletion:
  33.  
  34.         1. !Boot file inside an application directory
  35.         2. File type is Obey
  36.         3. All non-empty lines in the file begin with one of the following
  37.            sub-strings:
  38.                 IconSprites
  39.                 |
  40.                 StripCFS
  41.                 ForceCFS
  42.         4. The file has sufficient access priveleges to be deleted
  43.  
  44. If you would like other prefixes or even regular expression matches, then
  45. you'll have to wait until version 2.

  49. How to Operate
  50.  
  51. Just drag an application (or directory) onto the icon bar icon to process it.
  52. Since it is a Wimp program, it is fairly easy to operate.  If you want more
  53. information, turn on that interactive help.
