<p>AddSprites is essential if you use your own custom WIMP sprites, to stop badly-behaved applications replacing them. AddSprites also allows control of small icons, and can force applications to use the standard window furniture instead of their own versions.</p>
<p>BAX patches the BASIC module to allow all sorts of new mnemonics, pseudo-mnemonics, and assembler directives, including everything in the instruction sets of the ARM7 and FPA11. If you use the BASIC assembler, you need this program.</p>

<p>Diss is an desktop ARM code disassembler. This is a commercial product; you can download a demo. Diss includes label support for easy debugging, re-assembly, and block processing, amonst many useful features.</p>
<p>DragASprite is a prettier, faster, less flickery and more configurable version of the <em>DragASprite</em> module included in ROM on RISC OS 3. It uses an alternating dither pattern to avoid loss of detail in semi-transparent sprites, and has five optimised sprite drawing algorithms for speed.</p>
<p>FontSafe limits resizing of the font cache to the Task Manager. This means that games cannot shrink your font cache to zero and make the desktop crawl, as they often like to do.</p>
<p>If you find the normal blue triangular desktop hourglass somewhat primitive, why not design your own replacement with this utility? Comes with some example hourglasses.</p>
<p>MusicSDP is a sound-to-light converter. It takes the sound currrently playing through your computer (through a soundtracker player) and generates moving coloured patterns.</p>
<p>MZXiface is a Multiface poke executor for the PD Spectrum emulator <em>MZX</em>. (Other emulators have this feature built-in). Cheats Prosper features a large list of Multiface pokes, on the DoggySoft web pages. Note that although MZXiface works on the Risc PC, the current version MZX does not (without alteration).</p>
<p>NewerLook release 2 provides multitudinous features to improve the look of your desktop, including: 3D window tools; 3D wimp icons; 3D file icons; 3D application windows; 3D requester windows; better sprite drags; better backdrop textures; smooth pointers; new hourglass; disc-based resource filer (Archimedes); sprite-protector and many more. Release 2 of NewerLook provides an easy method of installing.</p>
<p>Palette is a replacement for the RISC OS Palette Utility. Offers features such as the mode number or number of colours on the icon bar, mode selection by colours and size, contrast and brightness controls, partial palettes, configurable mode menu, hot-key mode changing, CMYK editing, and a multi-effect screen saver.</p>
<p>Pointer Watch is a screen magnifier: a window that displays a close-up view of what's under the pointer. It's a good one because it uses direct screen access to be extremely fast, yet it has a fully alterable magnification factor and window size. It also has an icon number monitor, and works in the new Risc PC high-colours modes.</p>
<p>RoughTime shows the current computer time in a <q>rough</q> style (for example, <q>it's around quarter to ten</q>). There are three different windows to choose from, one extremely small and one which sticks to the Pinboard.</p>
<p>ShiftKeys links <em>Shift</em>, <em>Ctrl</em> and <em>Alt</em> buttons to the iconbar. Clicking upon them emulates holding down the keys in question. This can be helpful for some special needs users, and in conjunction with <em>Chars</em> can give complete desktop control without a keyboard.</p>
<p>TaskKill gives you to capability to kill tasks, give them fatal errors and execute pre-defined star commands by pressing hot-keys. Useful for killing rogue tasks that have crashed (though this function is duplicated by the OS on the Risc PC).</p>
<p>TaskMsg is a small utility for the command line that sends a WIMP message to a specified task. Miscellaneous uses include quitting tasks, loading files into text editors, etc.</p>
<p>Termite is the easy-to-use all-in-one communications package for bulletin boards and the Internet. The rest of this demo <disc has full details.</p>

<p>WimpExtension is a general-purpose module designed to make the task of WIMP programming easier. It provides SWIs to implement 3D icons, linked windows, window and icon handling, pointer changes, menus, sliders, data transfer, requesters, help, rendering, immediate window, a full sliding heap manager, and much more. WimpExt II introduces the concept of libraries, designed to give you the features you need without having to load everything else too.</p>
<p>This is the developer's pack: you need not download it simply to <em>run</em> WimpExt programs.</p>
<p>WimpSWIVe is a programmer's support module that provides a full dynamic pre-trapping and post-trapping vector chain for Wimp SWIs, without slowing the machine down by use of the hardware vector. Using this module makes trapping WIMP SWIs easy, and ensures compatibility with other programs that use it. Includes full source code and example programs.</p>
<p>Oh, and if you're wondering why the icon features an incongruous and bizarrely-coloured fish: I can't think of anything that could possibly represent a WIMP SWI (can you?) - so why not?</p>
