  10. This demonstration version is a full-working version of
  11. QuickVerse for Windows, and includes the writings of John
  12. from the King James Version.

  14. This demonstration version does not include a printed
  15. User's Guide; however, complete on-help is provided to
  16. assist you with learning about QuickVerse and its many
  17. features.

  19. Please be aware of the following issues.

  21. --> You may not use any QuickVerse add-on products, such as
  22.     additional Bible translations and study note modules,
  23.     with this demonstration version.

  25. --> You may create note and index files for use with the 
  26.     demonstration version; however, you will not be able to
  27.     use these files with the full version of QuickVerse.

  29. --> You may highlight the Bible with this demonstration
  30.     version; however, you will not be able to use your
  31.     highlights with the full version of QuickVerse.

  108.          Installing QuickVerse Add-On Products
  109. ************************************************************

  111. QuickVerse for Window and QuickVerse for DOS share many of 
  112. same add-on products, including add-on Bible translations,
  113. Nave's Topical Bible, Strong's Concordance, and the study
  114. Bible notes such as the Scofield Study Bible.
  115.  
  116. Since many of these add-on modules may be used with either
  117. the Windows or DOS versions of QuickVerse, a DOS-based
  118. installation program is usually provided.
  119.  
  120. Each of these add-on products include applicable 
  121. installation instructions.  Please refer to these 
  122. instructions for further information on performing the
  123. installation.

  127.                Installation Error 105
  128. ************************************************************

  130. Some virus detection and interception programs, such as
  131. Central Point's VSafe program, may cause erroneous reports
  132. "File Error 105."  If you receive this error while 
  133. installing QuickVerse for Windows, remove VSafe, or
  134. any other virus detection program, and attempt the 
  135. installation again.
  136.

  139.       CD-ROM Drives and Windows 95
  140. ************************************************************
  141.  
  142. If you use Windows 95 and a 16-bit CD-ROM driver for your
  143. CD-ROM drive, QuickVerse may be unable to reliably read
  144. data from your CD drive.  If you experience problems 
  145. reading translations or other files stored on CD, then the
  146. problem may be caused your CD-ROM driver.
  147.  
  148. 16-bit drivers are designed to work with Windows 3.1, not
  149. with Windows 95.  It is not uncommon to experience problems
  150. when using these older 16-bit drivers with Windows 95.
  151.  
  152. How can you know if you are using a 16-bit driver?  Look
  153. in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.  If the MSCDEX driver is being 
  154. loaded in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, then you are probably 
  155. using a CD-ROM driver designed for DOS and Windows 3.1.
  156.  
  157. You may also check the Performance tab after clicking on 
  158. the My Computer icon and selecting Properties from the popup
  159. menu.  If the file system indicates that some drives are 
  160. using MS-DOS compatibility mode, then it is possible that
  161. you are still using a 16-bit CD-ROM driver.
  162.  
  163. If you find that you are using a 16-bit driver and that
  164. QuickVerse is unable to read from the CD, you have a few
  165. options.
  166.  
  167. 1.  Install a "designed for Windows 95" 32-bit CD-ROM 
  168.     driver.  Your Windows setup disks may already contain
  169.     the driver that you need.  If not, you may be able
  170.     to obtain a driver from either Microsoft or from   
  171.     the maker of your CD-ROM.  Several companies allow 
  172.     you to download the latest drivers from the Internet
  173.     or from online services.

  175. 2.  If you are unable to obtain a 32-bit driver, then
  176.     you can turn off the Windows 95 features included in
  177.     QuickVerse.  This is accomplished by adding
  178.  
  179.     winver=31
  180.  
  181.      to the [SPECIAL] section of the QVWIN.INI file.

  185.                 Font Requirements
  186. ************************************************************
  187.  
  188. QuickVerse for Windows will use the Times New Roman
  189. True Type font as the default font.  You may, of 
  190. course, change the fonts using the Fonts menu.
  191.  
  192. The verse list windows (Search List, Index List, and Note
  193. List) work best when used with a 12 point or smaller font.
  194. If you use a larger font, the abbreviated search word may
  195. not be displayed in the verse fragment.

  199.    List of Word Processors that can not be Customized
  200. ************************************************************

  202. The following word processing programs are known to not be 
  203. customizable using the Customize Word Processor feature.
  204.  
  205.     WordPerfect for Windows (when used with Windows version 
  206.         3.0  only... it may be customized when used with 
  207.         version 3.1) 
  208.     PFS:Publisher 
  209.     PFS:WindowsWorks
  210.  
  211. Additionally, some versions of Microsoft Word are not
  212. customizable until the edit menu has been selected.
  213.  
  214. By the way, Dynamic Data Exchange is the preferred 
  215. method of exchanging data between the applications.  In
  216. other words, if the program will support DDE, you should
  217. generally attempt to connect via DDE instead of via the
  218. word processor customization feature.

  222.      Word Processor Macros Supplied with QuickVerse
  223. ************************************************************

  225. Three interested QuickVerse users have prepared macros for
  226.  
  227.     Word for Windows, version 6 and 7
  228.     Lotus AmiPro, version 3.x
  229.     Lotus Word Pro 96 Edition
  230.     WordPerfect for Windows, version 6.0a
  231.  
  232. These macros provide links between the word processor and 
  233. many of our Bible study related products.  If you use one of 
  234. these word processors, then you might find one of these 
  235. macros useful. 
  236.  
  237. COMPUSERVE USERS:  The newest copies of these macros may
  238. be downloaded from the file library in the PTFORUM.
  239.  
  240. NOTE FOR QUICKVERSE CD USERS:  Your CD contains a directory
  241. called MACROS that contains these files.  They are not
  242. installed to your hard drive.
  243.  
  244. To use any of these macros or templates, first read the
  245. associated documentation file.  You may also refer to your
  246. word processor's user guide for additional information.
  247.  
  248. Our developers and technical support staff are not able to
  249. be expert in the many available word processors.  Please
  250. contact the authors of these macros to offer your thanks
  251. for their efforts, to report any problems, or for additional
  252. assistance.

  260.                 Font Compatibility
  261. ************************************************************
  262.  
  263. QuickVerse for Windows is compatible with most Windows
  264. fonts and font packages.
  265.  
  266. Many apparent font errors, such as garbled text being
  267. displayed or no text being displayed, may actually be
  268. caused by incompatibilities with video drivers or 3rd
  269. party font programs.
  270.  
  271. If you experience problems with certain fonts or font styles
  272. when using QuickVerse for Windows, use the Windows Setup
  273. program to change your video driver and/or video resolution.
  274. (Remember to make a note of which driver and resolution you
  275. were originally using so you can easily restore it!)  You
  276. may find that this will cause the problem to "go away."
  277.  
  278. You may have trouble if you use fonts supplied with 
  279. Publisher's PowerPak, by Atech Software.  We do not 
  280. recommend that you use these fonts when using
  281. QuickVerse for Windows.

  285.          Compatibility with Sound Products
  286. ************************************************************
  287.  
  288. We have been made aware that the Wired for Sound program 
  289. contains a bug that causes it to crash the computer, 
  290. generally resulting in a reset being required, when both of 
  291. the following conditions occur: 
  292.  
  293.     - an action occurs that generates a sound in Wired for 
  294.       Sound, and
  295.     - when the current application does not have any free
  296.       file resources available.
  297.  
  298. Since QuickVerse for Windows uses more file resources than 
  299. most applications, it is much more likely that you will 
  300. encounter this bug in Wired for Sound when using QuickVerse 
  301. than when using many other Windows applications.  The only 
  302. solution to this problem is to disable or close Wired for 
  303. Sound while using programs such as QuickVerse that routinely 
  304. access several data files.

  306. Other Windows "sound" products may generate the same errors 
  307. as Wired for Sound, discussed above.
  308.  
  309. Additionally, such programs have been known to halt the
  310. computer when QuickVerse for Windows displays a QuickVerse
  311. Message window.  The symptom of this problem is that 
  312. QuickVerse appears not to display any buttons in the message 
  313. window. However, the actual cause of the problem is the sound 
  314. program.  Removing the sound program eliminates this problem.
