- This diskette contains the IBMFTOOL Utility, the purpose of this Utility
- is to allow some features of IBM ATA Hard Disk Drives to be modified by
- the user for improved compatibility within their working environment.

- Installation
- ------------

- This utility is supplied as a self-extracting executable file that will
- create a bootable DOS diskette with all the necessary sub-programs to
- allow correct functionality. The self-extracting program requires you to
- have access to one of Microsoft operating systems, i.e. Windows95,
- Windows98, Windows Millennium, Windows NT, Windows 2000.
- To create your utility diskette download the self-extracting program to
- your PC, using explorer change to location where you downloaded the program,
- insert a formatted 1.44MB diskette into your diskette drive then
- double-click on the IBMFTOOL-INSTALL.EXE program icon and follow the
- on-screen instructions. Once your diskette has been created, to use the
- utility simply boot on the newly created diskette and accept the Licence
- agreement, the program will then scan your system for installed ATA devices.
- A list of all devices found will be displayed allowing you to select the
- device you wish to work with.

- This utility has been successfully tested with IBM Hard Disk Drives attached
- to a wide variety of System Motherboards, BIOS combinations however if
- you have problems running this utility on your particular system and your

- If you are using the Iwill Side RAID100 plug-in PCI controller on some
- systems you may experience a hang condition during the bus scan of this
- controller. For these situations it is suggested that you temporarily
- remove the I will controller from your system and plug the drives you
- wish to work with directly into the ATA ports on the Motherboard. You can
- then run the utility after which you should return the system to its original
- configuration.
