  4. Thank you for trying MicroPlanet Gravity, a 32-bit newsreader.
  5. This file is brief and is designed to point you to other
  6. resources.  Please be sure to send us your feedback!

  9. --- Important!!! ---
  10.  
  11.      The version 2.1 database files are not backward compatible with
  12.      previous versions.  When you run 2.1, the files are automatically
  13.      converted to a new format.  If you want to be able to restore
  14.      previous versions of the product, see the section below.

  16. --- Restoring Previous Versions Of Gravity ---
  17.  
  18.      When you install Gravity over previous versions, you are given an
  19.      opportunity to create a backup of your previous database and settings
  20.      so that you can restore them if necessary.  If you backed up your
  21.      database and settings, the steps for restoring a previous version are:
  22.      
  23.           1) Print out these instructions (they will get removed by
  24.              step 2).
  25.      
  26.           2) Use the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs feature to remove
  27.              MicroPlanet Gravity.
  28.      
  29.           3) Re-install the older version you want to restore
  30.              (e.g. 1.1 or 2.0).  Be careful to re-install into the
  31.              directory where it was previously installed.
  32.      
  33.              DURING INSTALLATION OF THE PREVIOUS VERSION, YOU WILL BE
  34.              ASKED IF YOU WANT TO RUN GRAVITY.  ANSWER NO TO THIS
  35.              QUESTION AND EXIT OUT OF THE INSTALL.

  37.           4) Locate the directory where the backup was made.  The
  38.              default location is c:\Program files\Gravity\Backup.
  39.              Run GravityBackup.exe from that directory to restore the
  40.              backup file (.grv) that you created.
  41.      
  42.           5) Run your older copy of Gravity to confirm that it performs
  43.              correctly.
  44.      
  45.      Note : When you upgrade from 1.1 or 2.0 to Gravity 2.1, the
  46.      installation script renames the directory to "Gravity" from
  47.      "Anawave Gravity."  If, after restoring your previous version, you
  48.      no longer need the backup program and file that was created, then
  49.      you should remove the Gravity directory so that future versions of
  50.      Gravity can install properly.
