- -----------------------------------------------------
-
- If you're having any problems running the program, the following
- information should solve this. If you have any problems once you're
- in the program go to the [Help] menu, and [Search] for

- -----------------------------------------------------------------------
- PROBLEM 1 : HotDog does not run (after installing)
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- SYMPTOMS:
- "When I start HotDog all I get is a blank grey box on my screen, and
- then nothing happens"
- "I get to see the splash screen, and HotDog seems to load in the
- background, but the splash screen doesn't go away"
-
- WHY DOES IT HAPPEN?
- There may still be some old files from a previous version of HotDog on
- your system, or our support file program hasn't overwritten some old
- system files.
-
- SOLUTION:
- There are several 'depths' of reinstallation that should fix your
- problem. Hopefully you'll only have to try the first or second
- method to get your HotDog working.
-
- 1) If you're reinstalling, save your configuration
- --------------------------------------------------
-
- Before doing any reinstallation of HotDog, you'll probably want to save
- your *.ini files to save your preferences and toolbar settings.
-
- Backup these files to a different directory so you can copy them back
- into your hotdog directory after reinstallation. Please make sure
- your reinstalling the same version or you'll run into all sorts of
- trouble.
-
- hotdog.ini - program settings and configuration
- toolbar.ini - toolbar settings and configuration
-
- 2) Try a simple reinstall
- -------------------------
- Firstly, please try uninstalling HotDog with unwise.exe, then reinstall
- the support files, followed by the program files. This should
- hopefully do the trick. Doing this won't overwrite many files and
- certainly won't overwrite any system files, but might be a quick
- solution to your problem.
-
- 3) Try a complete reinstall
- ---------------------------
-
- If that still hasn't solved the problem :
-
- - go through the install.log file and remove any file in the
- windows\system directory that was used by Hot Dog, whether marked as
- "Copied", or "Following file not copied". All these files exist in
- the hotdog installation files and will replace the ones you delete,
- so you need to make sure all of them have been deleted.
-
- - uninstall Hot Dog using the uninstall file in your HotDog directory,
- or using the Add/remove programs option from your control panel.
-
- - remove all the above listed system files (in 3) from your
- windows\system directory.
-
- And then reinstall the support files and the install file. This will
- make sure that *all* of the files used by HotDog have been completely
- replaced with the 'good' ones from your installation programs.

- PROBLEM 2 : "Invalid dynamic link call to a .dll"
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- SYMPTOMS:
- "When I go to run HotDog, I get the message "Hot dog has made an
- Invalid dynamic link call to a .dll"
-
- SOLUTION:
- The problem you are experiencing may be caused by the splash.avi file
- that HotDog uses when it opens. Go to the HotDog directory and try
- running the splash.avi file. If you have any problems running this,
- you get the above error message, or if you have a Motion, Miro or
- Cirrus board then:
-
- -go to the start menu and select the run option
- -type sysedit
- -go to the system.ini folder
- -locate "DCI=RFMDCI" in the drivers section
- -type "REM DCI=RFMDCI"
- -locate "DCI-SUPPORT=ON" in the display section
- -type "REM DCI-SUPPORT=ON"
-
- Save your changes, and then reboot.
-
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------
- PROBLEM 3 : Other programs stop working after installing hdprosupp.exe
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- This installation will forcibly overwrite any existing files with the
- same names, but it does make backups in the directory you chose during
- installation (default: \windows\system\backuphd). You can copy a DLL
- file back into your system directory, or re-register an OCX file to
- bring it back into usage.
